We’re looking for a Staff Engineer, Commercial Data Platform in GCS-Technology. Cultivate an environment of continuous improvement through technical guidance, coaching, mentoring, and feedback Lead the technical strategy to scale data risk management and data governance best practices across the commercial ecosystem Be a key leader on the effort to continuously improve the trust and reliability of our critical operational data-driven workloads Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and cross functional partners to deliver collaboratively Perform hands-on architecture, design, development, and testing Implement process improvements to streamline areas for your team such as hiring, onboarding, software delivery, and internal/external communication Drive and execute on high-level & detailed technical decisions Minimum Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills Expertise with a major cloud vendor (AWS/GCP) Expertise with spark, python, SQL Experience partnering cross functionally and being a hands-on leader to drive successful execution Strong understanding of data governance best practices and technical patterns to implement them at scale Preferred Qualifications Experience building unified data driven solutions with a data-lakehouse architecture Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
