We are looking for a hands-on Staff Engineer to set the technical direction for our next-generation, enterprise platform. As one of our most senior individual contributors, you will architect and build cloud-native solutions, raise the bar on engineering quality across teams, and lead how we adopt AI throughout the software development lifecycle. We are a Claude shop – we build with Anthropic’s Claude and Claude Code every day – and we’re looking for an engineer who is excited to help us do that responsibly and at scale. Responsibilities: o Own the architecture and technical roadmap for major areas of the platform, ensuring solutions are enterprise-scalable, secure, and maintainable o Set the standard for how the team uses AI in software engineering – driving effective, responsible use of Claude and Claude Code for design, coding, code review, testing, and documentation o Establish patterns, guardrails, and best practices for AI-assisted development (prompting/context strategies, code-generation review, evaluations, and guarding against insecure or low-quality AI output) o Design and develop cloud-native, service-oriented solutions using Azure services, APIs, and modern frameworks o Partner with Product Managers, engineering scrum teams, Client Operations, and Sales to deliver high-impact features o Define coding standards, lead code reviews, and champion continuous improvement of platform reliability, scalability, and security o Drive research, case studies, and prototypes on emerging technologies – including AI/LLM capabilities – and show how they can be leveraged for the business o Lead proofs-of-concept in collaboration with development teams and shepherd promising ones to production o Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to engineers across the organization, raising the overall level of engineering excellence o Ensure software meets all requirements for quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, and compliance Qualification and Experience · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science · At least 8-10 years of software development experience, with a track record of designing and delivering large, complex systems · Mastery of multiple programming languages and platforms (C#, React/Angular, Python, Cloud-Services – Azure preferred) · 5+ years in Cloud Engineering (Azure/AWS/GCP, Azure preferred) · Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex or Cursor) – Claude / Claude Code preferred – to build production software, and the judgment to know when and how to rely on them · Working understanding of LLMs and AI-assisted engineering: prompting and context management, evaluating AI-generated code, and the security, privacy, and quality considerations involved · Ability to independently design and deliver large, complex projects, and to translate functional requirements into technical design · Ability to work with the CTO, tech-leadership team, senior engineers, DevOps, and Security Engineers to shape the architectural vision and roadmap for the organization · Experience defining best practices and standards for microservice implementation · Experience mentoring engineers and leading by influence across teams · Delivering platform/product AI Capability experience preferred · Data Lake architecture experience (Snowflake/Azure/AWS – Snowflake/Azure preferred) · Analytics visualization using Power BI – a plus Why You’ll Love Working Here: Comprehensive Benefits – Medical, Dental, Vision plan options and Company-Paid Short-Term Disability and Life Insurance 401K Contributions – Generous employer match with immediate vesting Generous Time Off – 5 weeks of PTO, 9 paid holidays, and 3 days of volunteer time off each year Neighborly Software is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
