Staff Engineer

Chargefox is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Staff Engineer to help shape the architecture and technical direction of our EV charging platform.

This is a senior individual contributor role where you’ll stay close to the technology while having real influence across engineering.

Working across Ruby/Rails, AWS and distributed systems, you’ll solve complex challenges, guide architectural decisions and mentor engineers as we continue to scale.

What you’ll do

• Shape architecture and technical direction across our platforms
• Design scalable, reliable and high-performing systems
• Lead complex technical initiatives from idea through to delivery
• Mentor engineers and lift technical capability across teams
• Drive improvement across system scalability and maintainability
• Champion reliability, observability, security and engineering excellence
• Partner with Engineering, Product and technical leaders to solve complex challenges

What you’ll bring

• Strong experience designing and operating scalable distributed systems
• Hands-on knowledge of Ruby/Rails and AWS, including ECS and CloudFormation
• Deep experience across the software development lifecycle
• A track record of solving complex technical problems
• Strong architectural thinking with a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach
• Experience mentoring and developing engineers
• B2B/B2C product experience, with automotive or EV experience highly regarded
