At Productboard, we're building the first agentic product management system. We're rethinking how product management is done in a world full of AI agents, and how we help our customers build what matters for their audience. AI is changing what an interface even is: static screens are giving way to conversations, generated artifacts, rich interactive UI, and open-ended workflows, often on the same screen.
The aim
Make Productboard one coherent product that people and agents both use. Own the conceptual model and the MCP tool surface that exposes it, so Spark, the UI and outside agents all speak the same language. Product decides what we build; engineering owns the data model and APIs.
Who you design for
Two personas need different things from the same conceptual model. The navigation, the agent interface and the approval moments have to work for both.
- ICPM. Works inside one product area. Needs a fast path from feedback to insight to feature to release, and a Spark that knows their area as well as they do.
- Head of Product. Looks across the portfolio. Needs the model to roll up: strategy, outcomes and status without opening every area, and the confidence that what rolls up is the same thing the ICPMs see.
Responsibilities
- Conceptual model. Define and evolve Productboard's conceptual model: one name per concept (feedback, insight, feature, release), what each one means, and how they relate. Product decides what we build. Engineering owns the data model and APIs. You keep the concepts consistent across the UI, the API and the MCP tools, and place each new Spark capability in the model before it ships.
- Information architecture. Design and prototype how the conceptual model becomes structure in the UI: what sits where, what a user sees first, how they move between objects. Design for the two personas above. Validate with tree testing and task completion for each.
- Agent interface. Own the MCP tool surface: which tools exist, their granularity, names, descriptions, responses and errors, built on the same conceptual model as the UI. Design how an agent finds its way: what it sees first, which tool it reaches for, how it moves from one object to the next, and what tells it when it is lost.
- Human and agent interaction. Define how users meet Spark, trust its output, delegate and stay in control, and when a task is chat, a generated artifact or structured UI.
- Approval moments. Decide what agents do alone and what needs a human review.
- Measurement. Define evals for key agent tasks and validate the conceptual model with users.
- Technical alignment. Partner with frontend and backend engineers so the UX architecture and the technical architecture match. Find and resolve structural inconsistencies between product areas. Prototype in code: build working prototypes of the navigation, patterns and tool surfaces you own, in React and TypeScript with coding agents, so engineers ship from something that runs rather than from a mockup.
- Internal AI tooling. Contribute to the internal AI tooling the design and product teams already use, and build new tools of your own: agents, prompts, evals, prototyping harnesses and scripts that let designers and PMs move faster. Spot where the teams are slow, ship a tool that removes it, and get others to adopt it.
Primary requirements
- Information architecture. Deep grasp of IA principles and methods. Has defined the conceptual model or taxonomy for a complex product and can show it worked.
- Systems thinking about agents. Designs flows where an agent acts, asks or fails.
- AI first. Uses agents daily for research, prototyping and building.
- Prototyping in code. Builds working prototypes in React and TypeScript with coding agents, and can explain, test and change what they built.
Experience
- A portfolio of product work you identified, designed, prototyped and shipped with a team, with a visible before and after. Roughly 8+ years in product design, with structure (conceptual model, information architecture, navigation) as your strongest work.
- Prototypes with coding agents. Builds a working prototype with Claude Code or Cursor, reads what the agent wrote well enough to steer it, and hands engineers something that runs. No React or TypeScript requirement.
- Information architecture and interaction design on a complex B2B product, where you set the structure and not just the components.
- Daily use of coding agents and AI prototyping tools, and the ability to explain, test and debug their output. MCP or other agent tool surface work is a strong plus.
- Best backgrounds: AI-native products, API or developer platforms, workflow automation, design systems at scale, or IA on complex B2B products.
What's in it for you
Most product design roles stop at the feature or the mockup. You will own the shape of a product that people and agents use at the same time.
- The conceptual model, the navigation and the MCP tool surface are yours. Agentic product management has no settled patterns yet. What you ship here is what Productboard's teams and outside agents build on.
- Prototypes, not mockups. You build the prototype in code with coding agents, and engineers ship from what runs, not from a Figma file.
- One model, three surfaces. The UI, Spark and outside agents over MCP run on the same conceptual model. You hold all three.
- Team tooling is in scope. Agents, evals and prototyping harnesses for designers and PMs count as your work.
- Staff or Principal scope with a direct line to the CTO. Structural calls are yours to make.

If joining us means making a move, we're here to help make that transition easier.
Candidates must have the legal right to work in the EU. While we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role, we're happy to support relocation to Prague for candidates already authorized to work in the EU.
