About the Role Our client is an AI-powered maternal health company that is revolutionizing care by connecting patients with an integrated network of providers, including OB-GYNs, lactation consultants, and doulas. Their advanced AI tools, telehealth platform, and provider collaboration streamline care delivery, ensuring mothers receive high-quality, personalized care while connecting them to resources and actively addressing healthcare disparities. You'll own the architecture , infrastructure , and deployment foundations the company is built on. This is the most senior engineering seat on the team: you'll make the high-leverage decisions that let a small team ship quickly today and scale safely as they grow, including the security and compliance posture required to handle sensitive health data. This role is for someone with a startup mentality, someone who does whatever it takes to exceed the roadmap, not just meet it. It's fast paced and high ownership. The right person doesn't just contribute to the mission, they become part of it, treating the company's goals as their own and pushing past what's asked. Responsibilities Own overall system architecture and technical direction, end to end Design and run infrastructure, deployment, and CI/CD, reliable, secure, and cost aware Build the foundations for scale, observability, and zero downtime delivery Lead security and HIPAA grade compliance posture for handling PHI Design data infrastructure that captures high-value data to fuel the product and AI/models Set engineering standards and mentor the team, multiplying everyone's output Requirements Hands-on experience with Angular, NestJS, and Postgres, or the proven ability to ramp into them quickly. Whatever your specialty, you'll do regular full-stack work in this stack, not only your focus area Deep senior experience, typically 8+ years, architecting and shipping production systems end to end Real infrastructure and DevOps depth on top of the core stack (cloud, containers/Kubernetes, CI/CD) A track record owning architecture and deployment for a real product at scale Sharp judgment on what to build vs. buy, and how to keep a small team fast Bonus: HIPAA/SOC 2 or other regulated-data experience, early-stage startup experience, data infrastructure How You Operate You have a startup mentality, you'll do whatever it takes to exceed the roadmap, not just hit it You thrive in high pace, high ambiguity environments and don't need structure handed to you, you build it as you go You're bought into the mission, the company's goals are your goals, not a checklist You have a bias to ship, you'd rather learn from real usage than polish in a vacuum You move fluidly across the stack without waiting to be told which piece matters more You care about the people on the other end of the product and bring that care into every decision Additional Information: Work Hours: Remote, with availability for PST collaboration Contract Type: Independent Contractor We Offer: Competitive Compensation in USD Paid Time Off 100% remote
