I’m working with a specialist healthcare research consultancy looking to appoint a SAS Programmer, with opportunities at Programmer and Senior Programmer level.

If you enjoy complex data manipulation and applying your statistical knowledge to challenging research questions, this could be an interesting next step.

The work focuses on Patient-Reported Outcomes (PRO), questionnaire data and instrument comparisons. You’ll work closely with Statisticians and Psychometricians, supporting analyses that go beyond standard efficacy and safety reporting.

What will you be doing?

• Developing and validating SAS programs to support PRO research and statistical analyses.
• Working extensively with QS, ADQS and ADSL datasets.
• Manipulating complex data, investigating anomalies and helping interpret analytical findings.
• Supporting comparisons between questionnaires and measurement instruments.
• Taking ownership of programming deliverables and collaborating with research colleagues.

Who would suit these roles?

I’d be keen to speak with programmers bringing around 3–8 years’ experience, strong SAS skills and a solid understanding of the mathematics and statistics behind their work.

Experience with PRO or questionnaire data would be particularly relevant, alongside the ability to solve complex data challenges independently.

Knowledge of R would be highly desirable, helping you collaborate with Psychometrician colleagues. Previous psychometrics experience would be welcome, although it isn’t essential.

A degree in mathematics, statistics, data analysis or a related quantitative discipline would be well suited; a PhD isn’t required.
