As the Strategic Coordinator, you will partner directly with the Branch Manager to lead strategic planning, manage sensitive issues, and execute branch-wide initiatives. Serving as a crucial link between executive leadership, internal teams, and external stakeholders, you will oversee the delivery of business plans, budgets, and performance metrics while directing high-profile communications—including Council reports and leadership briefings. We are looking for a discreet, analytical, and collaborative professional capable of working independently to deliver meaningful organizational solutions.

What will you do?

  • Direct the development, implementation, and evaluation of branch-wide strategic plans, business plans, and long-range budget forecasts, ensuring performance metrics aligned with corporate and Council goals
  • Review, edit and direct staff in preparing reports, briefings, and presentations for City Council, Committees, and Executive Leadership (ELT), ensuring content completeness and responsiveness to inquiries and motions
  • Conceptualize, research, and execute complex, politically sensitive, and confidential assignments and special reviews on behalf of the Branch Manager
  • Design and manage executive-level operating rhythms, such as triage systems and look-aheads, to eliminate inefficient back-channel communication, protect leadership time, and ensure operational consistency with corporate expectations.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, guidelines, and operating procedures to enhance branch-level efficiency and effectiveness
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Branch Manager and the branch leadership team to ensure alignment and improve procedural integrity
  • Serve on the Branch Leadership Team, contributing to strategic direction, branch vision and policy setting, while providing expert advice and recommendations to executive leadership
  • Represent the branch on municipal committees, corporate-wide initiatives, and partnerships with external community partners and other levels of government
  • Act as a key strategic advisor across organizational lines to define objectives, research complex issues, formulate solutions, and oversee outcome implementation
  • Direct unit-level recruitment, employee onboarding, competency development, and ongoing performance management plans to ensure staff are empowered and equipped for their roles
  • Manage branch-wide position management workflows, facilitate Branch Leadership Team vacancy decisions, and handle confidential HR items for the Branch Manager's Office
  • Manage employee engagement, workplace issues, and disciplinary procedures in accordance with organizational policies and standards
  • Be the principal ghostwriter for executive-level communications, translating complex strategic information into cohesive narratives for diverse Community Partners and ensuring the branch's mission, vision, and corporate’s cultural commitments are embedded as core organizational values into operational practices, communication channels, and leadership routines
