Elevation Procurement and Supply chain are delighted to be supporting an established manufacturing business, part of an international group, in the search and selection of Strategic Sourcing Manage, based at their Nottingham manufacturing facility.
Strategic Sourcing Manager
Location: Nottingham
Salary: £60,000–£65,000 + Bonus + Profit Share
Benefits: 25 days' annual leave, pension, bonus and profit share.
An opportunity to shape and lead strategic sourcing across an international manufacturing business.
We are working with an established and growing manufacturing organisation to recruit a Strategic Sourcing Manager into a key position within its supply chain function.
With an annual turnover of approximately £50m, the business operates across two specialist manufacturing areas. As part of its ongoing development, the organisation is bringing these business units together under a more integrated supply chain strategy and is looking for an experienced sourcing professional to play a pivotal role in this transformation.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building supplier relationships, developing sourcing strategies and driving commercial improvements, rather than simply managing day-to-day purchasing activity.
The Role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will take ownership of strategic sourcing across both business units, developing a structured approach to supplier management, sourcing strategy and supply chain performance.
Managing an annual sourcing spend of approximately £10m, with sourcing aluminium bar from mills accounting for around 60–70% of expenditure, you will have significant scope to influence supplier strategy and deliver measurable commercial improvements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies across both business units.
- Reviewing, evaluating and rationalising an extensive supplier base.
- Identifying, assessing and onboarding new suppliers.
- Establishing and developing Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) processes.
- Driving supplier performance, quality, cost and continuous improvement.
- Supporting New Product Development (NPD) projects from a sourcing perspective.
- Developing supplier frameworks and processes before handing over operational purchasing activity to the purchasing team.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies and supply chain improvements.
- Supporting the integration of international sourcing activities across the wider group, including operations in the UK, Canada, USA and China.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and key external suppliers.
About the Manufacturing Environment
The business operates a 24/7 manufacturing facility employing approximately 200 people.
The technical environment includes raw materials, valves, flow rates and associated engineering components.
Given the technical and regulated nature of the products, supplier quality, technical specifications and relevant automotive standards are important considerations.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Strategic Sourcing or Procurement professional who can combine strong commercial skills with an understanding of technical manufacturing environments.
You will ideally have:
- A proven background in strategic sourcing, procurement or supplier management.
- Experience developing sourcing strategies and managing complex supplier networks.
- Strong supplier negotiation, relationship management and performance improvement skills.
- Experience managing significant spend and identifying commercial opportunities.
- An understanding of engineering products, technical specifications and manufacturing processes.
- The ability to work autonomously and influence stakeholders across the business.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
Experience within an automotive, engineering or manufacturing environment would be highly desirable.
Knowledge of aluminium, metals or other engineering materials would be a particular advantage, as would exposure to automotive quality standards, alternative fuels, hydrogen or CNG markets.
An engineering degree or relevant technical qualification would also be beneficial.
What's on Offer?
- Competitive salary of £60,000–£65,000.
- Annual bonus.
- Additional profit share
- 25 days' annual leave.
- Pension scheme.
- Opportunity to take ownership of a standalone strategic sourcing function.
- Exposure to international suppliers and group operations.
- Opportunity to influence and shape the future supply chain strategy of an established manufacturing business.
The position will initially be site-based during the three-month probationary period, with occasional hybrid working potentially available thereafter.
Interested?
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious sourcing professional looking to step into a position where they can make a genuine difference, influence strategic direction and help develop a more integrated supply chain across an international manufacturing group.
If you have the relevant sourcing, engineering or manufacturing experience and are looking for your next challenge, we would be keen to hear from you.
