Responsibilities: We have an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for both technical content and project management tasks related to public infrastructure bridge projects. Typical tasks for this position include the development of design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for public bidding; providing support and guidance for junior staff, client and subconsultant management and coordination; tracking of project budgets; delegation of work tasks to support staff; and basic knowledge of survey data collection, land rights, and regulatory permitting. The ideal candidate will have the ability to take projects from concept level to construction and have deep knowledge of all matters related to the project development cycle with stakeholders of all experience and knowledge levels. What You Will Do: We have an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer with flexibility on work location. Required responsibilities include: Assist with conceptual, preliminary, and detailed final design of new bridges Perform assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges Preparation of bridge plans, writing project technical specifications and technical reports, design calculations, and provisions of construction phase services Perform Primary or Independent bridge quantity/cost take-offs Perform Quality Control (QC) of project documents Assist on bridge projects from a technical perspective and coordinate with other disciplines and subconsultants, as necessary Field visits to project sites, as necessary Desired Skill and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering required 4-8 years’ relevant bridge design experience P.E. preferred Ability to work in team environment as an individual contributor Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to utilize critical thinking, judgment, and experience to define, analyze and resolve problems and issues Project management experience a plus Familiarity with the MassDOT Bridge Manual a plus What HSH Offers: Flexible, hybrid workplace Engaged, friendly workplace culture with many opportunities to make meaningful connections with colleagues Transit subsidy and discounted bike share membership 401(k) Plan with generous company match Paid volunteer time Competitive medical, dental, and vision plans Annual discretionary bonus Ongoing education and professional development opportunities Tuition assistance Salary range: $85,000-115,000 The salary range displayed is a good-faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and market conditions. The salary range does not include additional forms of compensation, such as bonuses or benefits, which may be part of the total compensation package.
