ASW Consulting is an Australian-owned boutique talent acquisition and engagement consulting firm which is focused on providing careers for top talent in the Southeast Asian market.

About our client

Our client is a fast-growing international engineering and detailing consultancy specializing in 3D structural steel and pre-construction BIM solutions for the Australian commercial and industrial sectors. Headquartered in Australia with a modern offshore delivery center in Ho Chi Minh City, the firm bridges global engineering standards with local technical expertise. They foster a collaborative, quality-focused culture where local detailers engage directly with overseas clients, fabricators, and site teams—supported by structured leadership coaching, funded international travel, and clear long-term career progression.

Role Overview

  • Core Focus: Accurately modeling and detailing 3D structural steelwork in Tekla Structures for Australian projects, generating buildable fabrication/erection packages from model set-up through to final shop details.
  • Quality & Process Ownership: Establishing, executing, and refining internal QA workflows, checklists, and client-specific standards to ensure error-free modeling and minimize on-site rework.

Key Responsibilities

3D Modeling & Technical Detailing:

  • Build accurate 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures based on engineering calculations, architectural layouts, and client documentation.
  • Produce buildable fabrication packages, including assembly drawings, single-part shop details, erection/layout plans, anchor bolt layouts, bills of materials (BOM), and CNC/DSTV outputs.
  • Detail projects in accordance with international design standards, fabrication tolerances, structural welding, and bolting specifications.
  • Ensure precise connection detailing and manage technical inquiries (RFIs) proactively rather than making assumptions on ambiguous documentation.

Quality Assurance & Process Improvement:

  • Perform complete self-checks before submitting deliverables, maintaining accountability for drafting precision at the source.
  • Develop, document, and maintain internal steel detailing guidelines, QA checklists, drawing templates, and client-specific preference standards.
  • Execute a multi-stage internal QA workflow to ensure all outgoing packages are auditable and error-free.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on material rework to continuously refine standard operating procedures and prevent repeat issues.
  • Maintain strict revision control across all model iterations and issued drawing packages.

Client Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for overseas clients, consultants, fabricators, and site personnel on detailing inquiries.
  • Communicate complex technical matters in plain, professional English both in writing and during virtual discussions.
  • Participate in periodic international travel to visit client offices, fabrication facilities, and construction sites to gather operational insights.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in structural steel modeling and detailing using Tekla Structures (including model setup, custom components, drawing generation, and connection design).
  • Practical understanding of structural steel fabrication, cutting, welding, bolting, transport, and site erection processes.
  • Strong capability to interpret complex structural engineering drawings and architectural models.
  • Exposure to international building standards (e.g., Australian/New Zealand codes like AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 1554) or experience working on overseas projects is highly regarded.
  • Experience with cold-formed / light gauge steel framing in addition to hot-rolled steel is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Tekla customization (custom components, report templates, drawing settings) is preferred.

Benefits and Perks:

Compensation & Allowances:

  • Competitive base salary with 100% salary paid during the 2-month probation period.
  • Monthly meal allowance.
  • Health & Well-being:
  • Comprehensive insurance: Full statutory Social, Health & Unemployment Insurance + Premium Private Healthcare Insurance.
  • Annual health check-ups.
  • Monthly company-funded "Happy Lunch" and sponsored weekly team sports activities (Badminton, Table Tennis, Football).

Work-Life Balance & Leave:

  • Working hours: Monday – Friday (7:30 AM – 4:30 PM) — No weekend work.
  • Flexible / Hybrid working options support for parents raising young children.
  • 14 days of paid leave per year (12 Annual Leave + 1 Christmas/Noel Day + 1 Company Trip Day).
  • Annual company retreat/trip.
  • International Exposure & Professional Growth:
  • Opportunity to work directly on Australian market projects and gain valuable international engineering exposure.
  • Periodic sponsored business/training trips to Australia (1–2 weeks, 1–2 times per year) to visit client offices, fabrication workshops, and construction sites.
