Position Summary: The Student Teacher Supervisor serves as a Clinical University Supervisor for student teacher candidates, overseeing candidates in their assigned licensure area and grade band. This supervision role ensures student teacher candidates receive consistent support, guidance, and evaluation throughout their student teaching experience. Location Dependency: Your specific work mode (In-person, Remote, Hybrid) depends on your state of residence. Duties and Responsibilities: Complete all onboarding paperwork and required training sessions (including the Supervisor Training and Seminar Meet-and-Greet). Provide consistent supervision for assigned student teacher candidates through their assigned placement. Guide and support cooperating teachers through documentation and process expectations. Serve as a liaison between the H.K. and Eva James College of Education and the hosting school partner. Conduct formal student observations and post-conference meetings, plus midterm and final evaluations using the H.K. and Eva James College of Education's assessment tools. Maintain regular communication with student teachers via meetings, email, and Zoom, offering timely, constructive feedback Submit all required evaluation documents by program deadlines. Foster student confidence, teaching efficacy, and professional growth. Stay current with supervision best practices (e.g., cognitive coaching, adult learning theory, and instructional strategies). Communicate any concerns to the Clinical Field Office. The supervisor will conduct all required candidate, cooperating teacher, observation, and evaluation meetings in accordance with university and applicable state requirements. Meetings and observations may be conducted virtually, in person, or in a hybrid format as permitted by the candidate's state. An initial meeting with the student teacher candidate and cooperating teacher. Conduct the number and type of classroom observations required by the candidate's state, university program, and/or applicable educator preparation regulations, including post-observation conferences. A midterm evaluation meeting using the H.K. and Eva James College of Education's approved assessment method. A final evaluation meeting using the H.K. and Eva James College of Education's approved assessment method. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Master's degree in Education or a related field. Minimum of five years of successful K–12 teaching experience. Hold or have previously held an appropriate professional teaching license, certificate, or credential issued by a state education agency. Meet any additional supervisor qualifications required by the state in which the assigned student teacher is completing clinical practice. Demonstrated knowledge and experience within the candidate's assigned licensure/content area and grade band. Daytime availability to conduct observations, conferences, and meetings with student teacher candidates and cooperating teachers. Ability to complete supervision activities virtually, in person, or through a hybrid format as required. Familiarity with applicable state educator standards, evaluation systems, educator preparation requirements, and the InTASC Model Core Teaching Standards. Must meet applicable residency or geographic requirements associated with the assigned supervisor position. Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, GoReact, and other online documentation/assessment platforms. Additional Notes: Supervisors receive a stipend of $750 per student teacher per semester. Assignments are matched based on licensure area and grade band. Typical supervision loads range from 1-3 students for new supervisors, with a maximum of 5 per semester.
