Whether you’re studying Engineering, Energy Systems, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Building Services or a related subject, you’ll join a business that gives you responsibility early, supports your development and provides opportunities to build your knowledge of renewable energy and the built environment.
At Hollis, you’ll learn through real projects and practical experience. You’ll work alongside specialists in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery storage and electric vehicle charging, contributing to work from initial feasibility through to installation, Project Management and ongoing maintenance.
What you’ll get
When you join Hollis, you get more than a summer placement.
You get:
· Practical experience of renewable energy projects in the commercial property sector
· Exposure to solar PV feasibility assessments, energy modelling and technical due diligence
· The opportunity to develop your analytical, technical and commercial skills
· Experience working with clients, contractors, suppliers and specialists from across Hollis
· On-site exposure to related services, including drone surveys, ESG strategy and operations and maintenance management
· Early responsibility, supported by approachable colleagues who want you to develop
· A collaborative One Team culture where your contribution is welcomed and your development matters.
What you’ll be doing – your day to day
You’ll:
· Assist with solar PV feasibility assessments, using specialist 3D modelling software to analyse rooftop potential
· Support assessments of energy yield, carbon savings and financial payback
· Contribute to technical due diligence for acquisitions and disposals involving renewable energy assets
· Support Project Management activities, including resourcing, technical reviews and client reporting
· Gain on-site exposure to related services, including drone surveys, ESG strategy and operations and maintenance management
· Support service and sector research projects
· Develop your understanding of the market by working with clients, contractors and suppliers
· Champion our values and contribute positively to our culture.
What you’ll bring
Skills and experience
· You’re studying towards an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Building Services or a related subject
· You have a strong interest in renewable energy technologies and the built environment
· You have good analytical skills and are comfortable working with data
· You communicate clearly and professionally
· You have strong attention to detail and are committed to producing high-quality work
· You’re organised and able to manage different tasks and deadlines
· You can work collaboratively while taking ownership of your individual responsibilities
· You’re willing to learn, seek feedback and develop new skills.
About you
You’re curious, motivated and eager to learn.
You enjoy solving problems, working with data and understanding how renewable technologies can improve the performance of buildings. You’re organised, adaptable and comfortable working with different people and priorities. Most importantly, you’re ready to embrace a new challenge, contribute to real projects and take ownership of your development.
