What you’ll do

This role is based in Bangalore and reports to the Supplier Quality Manager in India. The Supplier QA Technical Lead Engineer will partner closely with suppliers and global stakeholders across Supply Chain, Product Group, Engineering, and Manufacturing to drive quality performance for the Gas Delivery commodity. The role is accountable for leading critical supplier quality projects, improving Process of Record maturity, resolving complex technical issues, and delivering sustained improvements in quality, cost, lead time, and on-time delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership for gas box and gas delivery components manufacturing processes, including welding, complex assembly, leak testing, and critical components such as valves, MFCs, regulators, and sensors.
  • Supplier Qualification & Development: Work with suppliers to develop, validate, and sustain Process of Record documentation, component qualification plans, and testing strategies that meet Lam’s performance and reliability requirements.
  • Quality & Manufacturing Support: Lead resolution of supplier quality issues, including nonconformances, FAIR rejections, escapes, and corrective actions using RCCA and 8D methodologies.
  • Ramp Readiness & Risk Management: Communicate strategies, risks, progress, and decisions clearly to CFT and global stakeholders, ensuring alignment and timely execution of supplier quality initiatives. Identify and mitigate manufacturing, capacity, and sub-tier supplier risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Product Group, Product Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to translate product requirements into manufacturable, scalable, and quality-focused supplier processes. Support sourcing decisions, capacity planning, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Conduct supplier audits and technical assessments at Lam and supplier manufacturing sites; perform critical POR & QMS assessment convert findings into sustainable corrective and preventive actions.

Who we’re looking for

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial or a related engineering discipline.

    Years of Experience: Minimum 5-9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or minimum 6 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree.

    Mandatory Skills Required to Perform the Job:

    • Proven hands-on capability in gas box, gas delivery components and testing, including complex assembly build, leak testing, automated welding, weld metallurgy, and integration testing.
    • Strong technical understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including MFCs, pressure regulators, valves, sensors, and LOTO requirements.
    • Experience with inspection and test methods such as helium sniffer testing, pressure decay testing, hydrostatic pressure testing, and sensor validation; ability to interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T, weld symbols, specifications, and test reports.
    • Hands-on experience in supplier assessment, qualification, development, process audit, and quality performance improvement.
    • Proficiency in structured problem-solving and quality tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA, DOE, and root cause corrective action methods.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, work effectively with cross-functional teams, influence suppliers, and deliver commitments on time.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor equipment, gas delivery systems, fluid handling systems, aerospace, medical device, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience with valves, regulators, filters, tubing assemblies, weldments, and precision machined components.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, orbital welding, fabrication, assembly, electropolishing, cleaning, and testing.
  • Experience supporting NPI, supplier process qualification, and production ramp activities.
  • Working knowledge of relevant gas delivery, quality, and compliance standards such as SEMI F78, SEMI F81, SEMI E49, RoHS, ISO 9001, and AWS.
  • Experience managing global or remote suppliers while building strong working relationships and maintaining accountability for quality performance.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to convert supplier quality data into insights, recommendations, and executive-level summaries.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
