This role translates product, factory, and customer requirements into executable supply strategies; leads suppliers through capacity, material, quality, cost, and continuity challenges; and drives measurable improvements in delivery, responsiveness, inventory, lead time, and total cost. The SBM6 serves as the primary business interface between strategic suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders and provides clear, data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supply Strategy & Business Ownership
- Own the supply strategy and operating plan for assigned suppliers, commodities, and product families, balancing customer service, capacity, inventory, cost, and risk.
- Convert demand, launch milestones, and factory priorities into supplier-level capacity, material, and delivery requirements.
- Supply Assurance & Recovery
- Lead shortage recovery, commit management, and escalation for critical materials; establish clear owners, milestones, quantities, and delivery dates.
- Drive build-to-plan execution through constraint analysis, material clear-to-build reviews, capacity reflow, allocation decisions, and corrective action follow-through.
- Supplier Performance & Accountability
- Establish supplier scorecards and operating cadences covering on-time delivery, commit attainment, lead time, cycle time, quality, responsiveness, inventory, and cost.
- Lead executive supplier reviews, root-cause analysis, corrective action plans, and sustained performance improvement.
- Risk Management & Business Continuity
- Identify multi-tier supply, capacity, geographic, financial, logistics, and single-source risks; quantify business exposure and maintain actionable mitigation plans.
- Develop continuity strategies including alternate sources, qualified distributors, safety stock, geographic redundancy, capacity reservations, and supplier business continuity plans.
- Leadership, Analytics & Communication
- Provide concise executive updates that clearly communicate business impact, recovery trajectory, decisions required, and accountable owners.
- Use ERP, planning, and analytical tools to identify trends, model scenarios, prioritize actions, and improve decision quality.
- Influence across functions and regions without direct authority and mentor less-experienced supply chain professionals in structured problem solving and supplier management.
