About Red Cross

Australian Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian movement. We support and empower people and communities in times of vulnerability.

Our Aged and Community Care (ACC) programs support older people to live independently, stay connected, and feel safe in their homes and communities.

About the role

This role works within the Nationwide Visiting Program and is responsible for the delivery of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme (ACVVS) program in the community, providing a social connection service for older Australians across the country.

As a Support Officer, you will train and support the volunteers who deliver the service and ensure the program is run according to guidelines and our Australian Red Cross policy. Additionally, you will be networking with facility co-ordinators, aged care providers, volunteer agencies and the local communities to promote and expand the service.

Key responsibilities of the role include developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicating with aged care providers and Lifestyle Co-ordinators, facilitating client referrals and matches, and ensuring an awareness of service needs within the broader community.

What you will bring

  • Experience working in a fast-paced online environment across multiple software platforms
  • Ability to maintain detailed and confidential records
  • A client-centred approach to your work and interactions
  • Ability to support and coach volunteers
  • Experience working in a virtual team and supporting colleagues remotely
  • Creative thinking capabilities, used to resolve volunteer and client concerns
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing programs to consumers from diverse backgrounds and cultures, including (but not limited to) First Nations, CALD and LGBTIQ+

A current and valid driver’s licence is a mandatory requirement for the role.
