Surety Account Manager III

What the day will look like
Provides analytical and operational services for a portfolio of surety bond clients, with an emphasis on accuracy, client interaction, underwriting pricing rigor & negotiation, and execution quality. Partners closely with clients to facilitate timely issuance of surety obligations. Reports to the regional Surety Operations leader. (Director or Team Lead).
- Operates with a high degree of autonomy and judgment across complex or strategically significant accounts and in dealing with markets.
- Takes primary accountability for handling selected key accounts, including coordination of large bond programs and sophisticated underwriting submissions.
- Possesses strong, in-depth knowledge of surety bonds, including contract and commercial surety, indemnity structures, and market dynamics.
- Serves as a technical lead within the team; assists in training, mentoring, and developing internal team, and contributes to improvement in execution initiatives.
- Collaborates daily with carriers on complex needs. Prepares and processes a broad range of surety instruments, including but not limited to bid, final, miscellaneous, and court bonds, ensuring alignment with underwriting parameters and client requirements.
- Collaborates daily with clients on complex needs. Completes Consents of Surety, Prequalification Letters, Riders, and other client required obligations per State requirements. Determines appropriate documentation to finalize issuance, i.e. power-of-attorney, resident license, etc. with attention to contractual, legal, and financial implications.
- Prepares General Indemnity Agreements and bond applications, coordinating with and advising clients to obtain complete, accurate financial and corporate information for underwriting review – including any other nuanced client needs or requirements.
- Maintains and facilitates data integrity and enabling proactive management of bond programs in AonBondLink (ABL).
- Works closely with internal collaborators to build and maintain accurate, complete electronic bond files in AonBondLink (ABL). It also confirms and manages client financial and underwriting records while following internal controls and audit requirements to avoid E&O.
- Manages countersignature requirements and related jurisdictional nuances to support compliant bond issuance across multiple states and territories.
- Provides technical surety guidance and support to non-surety colleagues, helping interpret bond forms, indemnity requirements, and program structures for internal stakeholders.
- Coordinates receipt and organization of pertinent client related underwriting information (e.g., financial statements, work-in-progress schedules, bank information, organizational documents) to support timely carrier decisions.
- Verifies that all bonds are issued within established surety lines of credit and brokerage authority; assists in structuring and negotiating approvals for bond requests that exceed standard limits or fall outside delegated authority.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Is able to effectively interpret a wide range of technical instructions and documentation involving abstract and concrete variables, including financial analyses, contractual provisions, and underwriting guidelines.
- Possesses experience or formal education in Risk Management, Insurance, and/or Surety, and applies this background to enhance client and market outcomes.
- Demonstrates strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills, consistently managing high-volume and complex workloads.
- Maintains Notary Public designation.
- Maintains Power of Attorney appointments with major surety markets and is regarded as a trusted signatory.
- Maintains appropriate Producer license
- Is proficient in all required technology platforms, including AonBondLink, Bridge, and Outlook, and utilizes these systems to manage data, analyze bond portfolios, and support decision-making.
Education and licensing requirements: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred for this position. Maintain Notary Public designation and hold the appropriate Property and Casualty license.

Pay Transparency Laws:
The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $90,000 - $110,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
