Who are we?

We’re Standard Life, a retirement specialist focused entirely on retirement savings and income. We champion the belief that everyone’s journey to and through retirement can be better, and for more than 200 years, we’ve been helping our customers plan and prepare for their financial futures.

Life today is increasingly complicated, uncertain and unpredictable. People move through different careers, face unexpected moments and navigate important choices. We offer our colleagues flexibility, trust and benefits that work for whatever life brings. In return we expect curiosity, connection, accountability and high standards. We make room for what matters - so you can bring your best, every day.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in shaping and delivering Standard Life’s approach to sustainability and climate reporting at a time of significant change in the external reporting landscape.

We’re looking for a Sustainability & Climate Reporting Lead to join our Finance team, bringing strong technical reporting expertise, sound judgement and a passion for turning complex requirements into clear, high-quality external reporting.

You’ll work across Finance and the wider business to translate evolving requirements into robust disclosures, reporting processes and controls, providing technical expertise and practical leadership as we strengthen our existing reporting and prepare for new requirements, including the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards (UK SRS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of controlled sustainability and climate reporting for Standard Life and relevant entities, including disclosures within scope of TCFD requirements.
  • Lead and support implementation of emerging sustainability reporting requirements, including UK SRS, translating technical requirements into practical actions across reporting, data, controls and governance.
  • Help shape our sustainability reporting strategy within Finance, bringing technical insight, external perspective and regulatory expertise to strengthen both near-term reporting and longer-term readiness.
  • Act as a senior sustainability reporting SME, providing clear, pragmatic advice and constructive challenge to Finance and business stakeholders on complex or judgemental reporting matters.
  • Build strong relationships across Finance and the wider organisation, bringing together stakeholders responsible for sustainability information, reporting, risk, governance and assurance.
  • Support assurance and control readiness, helping ensure sustainability information is supported by appropriate evidence, review, governance and reporting controls.
  • Monitor the external reporting and regulatory landscape, assessing emerging developments and translating them into clear implications and priorities for Standard Life.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong technical sustainability and climate reporting expertise, with proven experience delivering within a financial services environment and applying mandatory and voluntary reporting frameworks and standards, for example TCFD and UK SRS S1/S2, alongside wider regulatory requirements such as EU CSRD and SDR.
  • A strong controls and assurance mindset, with exceptional attention to detail and a track record of producing robust, high-quality reporting. Experience working with internal and external audit, assurance, risk and/or compliance functions would be highly advantageous.
  • The ability to turn complex requirements into practical solutions, interpreting new and emerging sustainability reporting requirements and translating them into clear reporting, data, governance, control and implementation requirements for the business.
  • A proven ability to deliver under pressure, successfully managing competing priorities and demanding reporting deadlines while maintaining quality, resilience and focus on outcomes.
  • Strong senior stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge thinking, navigate differing priorities and communicate complex technical matters clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If your experience looks different from what we’ve advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we’d love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.

We’re reviewing applications as they come in and may close this role before the closing date, so apply early to avoid missing out.
