Healthcare is complicated, but it doesn’t have to be.

500+ employees, 10 countries, and 1 mission - to amplify the voice of physicians and improve global healthcare.

This is where you come in. Helping unite physicians across the world to improve patient outcomes—and even save lives— is an incredible feeling. Join us!

What we’re about:

  • Community: we didn’t get 1.3M medical professionals to join Sermo overnight! Each day we work towards a shared goal – to build the world’s largest online community of medical professionals and industry partners by being the best partner possible.
  • Innovation: our tech-first approach to the conventional worlds of physician engagement and healthcare insights powers our ability to make a positive impact in new and unique ways.
  • Passion: whether a technologist, content buff, savvy marketer, biz dev guru or quant geek, we are all motivated by our passion to improve global healthcare each and every day.

What we’re looking for:

Sermo is looking for a SysOps Engineer (Systems Administrator) to help keep the infrastructure, identity platforms, endpoints, and AWS services our 500+ remote employees rely on secure and reliable as we grow. This is a broad generalist role spanning Microsoft 365 and identity, AWS and server operations, endpoints, and security.

You will join our distributed global IT team and work closely with IT Support, Engineering, DevOps, and Security. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, improves reliability through automation, and documents and shares what they learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage our Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft Entra ID, and Entra Connect.

  • Run day-to-day AWS operations with DevOps, including EC2, IAM, S3, security groups, backups, and access reviews.

  • Administer Windows and Linux servers; monitor availability and performance; troubleshoot incidents to root cause; and support patch and vulnerability management.

  • Manage our Windows and macOS fleet, including configuration, software deployment, patching, and endpoint security policies.

  • Strengthen security across identity and endpoints, including MFA, Conditional Access, LAPS, privileged access, EDR, and DLP, and support incident response.

  • Maintain core infrastructure services, including DNS, Twingate ZTNA, Veeam backups, and recovery testing, while coordinating network and firewall changes with their owners.

  • Automate repetitive work using PowerShell, Python, or Bash, including onboarding and offboarding across identity and SaaS platforms.

  • Handle escalations from IT Support, work tickets in Jira using ITSM/ITIL practices, and keep runbooks and inventory current.

  • Take part in a regular on-call rotation.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Fluent written and spoken English for daily collaboration with international colleagues.

  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration, SysOps, or infrastructure operations.

  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365, including identity security controls.

  • Working knowledge of Linux administration and core AWS services such as EC2, IAM, and S3.

  • Experience managing Windows and macOS endpoints and working with endpoint security tools.

  • Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPN/ZTNA, and firewalls.

  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills, with a self-directed approach in a remote environment.

  • Sound judgment when using AI tools with company or member data.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with tools such as SentinelOne, Mosyle, ManageEngine Endpoint Central, Intune, Twingate, Veeam, Datadog, Fortinet, Nightfall AI, Microsoft Graph, or SCIM provisioning.
