Please note that this position is a hybrid role, with three days per week required in our downtown Detroit office.
What can you expect?
As a Systems Engineering Consultant, you will take a leading role in delivering innovative engineering solutions for clients in the automotive and technology industries, ensuring seamless integration of hardware, software, and system-level requirements.
- Lead systems engineering activities throughout the development lifecycle, including requirements management, system architecture, verification and validation planning, and safety analysis.
- Take ownership of complex engineering work packages, ensuring technical quality, timely delivery, and alignment with client expectations.
- Perform and guide root cause analysis, failure mode analysis, and system-level assessments for complex automotive and technology systems.
- Define, implement, and optimize engineering processes, methods, and tools in alignment with ASPICE standards and industry best practices.
- Act as a key technical point of contact for clients, facilitating workshops, presenting technical recommendations, and managing project-related discussions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify technical challenges, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and consultants, supporting their professional development.
- Contribute to INVENSITY's technical expertise and knowledge sharing through internal initiatives and Academy trainings.
Your profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred).
- 5–7 years of professional experience in systems engineering, preferably within the automotive industry or a similarly complex, technology-driven environment.
- Strong hands-on experience in requirements engineering, system architecture, and systems development processes.
- Proven experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent solutions.
- Solid understanding of ASPICE standards and their practical application in engineering projects.
- Experience with safety and reliability analysis methods, including FMEA, FTA, and DFA.
- Familiarity with MathWorks tools (MATLAB/Simulink) is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage technical workstreams, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver engineering solutions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with confidence interacting directly with clients and senior technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership within project teams.
- Analytical and solution-oriented mindset, combined with a proactive approach and strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to thrive in an international, collaborative consulting environment.
