Job Title: Systems Engineer I Job Type: 6-month contract to direct hire Location: Dallas, Tx - Hybrid Summary of Functions: The Systems Engineer I is an entry-level technical professional responsible for supporting the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of enterprise server, operating system, virtualization, storage, and infrastructure platforms. This position assists with the implementation, configuration, and support of technology solutions that ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operation of enterprise systems. The Systems Engineer I works under the guidance of senior engineers while developing technical expertise, supporting operational activities, maintaining documentation, and participating in infrastructure improvement initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: Execution Excellence Provides day-to-day operational support for enterprise systems infrastructure by monitoring system health, performing routine administration tasks, supporting server operating systems, virtualization platforms, storage systems, backup solutions, and infrastructure services. Assists with incident resolution, system maintenance, software deployments, patching activities, access management, and troubleshooting technical issues while following established procedures and documenting resolutions. Planning and Solutioning Assists with the planning, testing, implementation, and support of infrastructure solutions that meet business and technical requirements. Participates in system upgrades, technology refresh initiatives, application platform support activities, disaster recovery efforts, and infrastructure projects while gaining experience with enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, automation practices, and emerging infrastructure solutions. Quality and Continuous Improvement Maintains accurate technical documentation, system inventories, operational procedures, and configuration records while following established standards, security requirements, and industry best practices. Identifies opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency; participates in root cause analysis; supports automation and process improvement initiatives; and contributes to maintaining a stable and secure computing environment. Cross-Functional Collaboration Collaborates with Infrastructure, Network, Security, Cloud, Application, Database, Service Desk, and business teams to resolve technical issues and support technology initiatives. Works with vendors and service providers as needed, communicates system changes and operational impacts, participates in project activities, and provides responsive technical support while maintaining effective working relationships across the organization. Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience and Training: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field; or an Associate degree with two (2) years of relevant systems administration or infrastructure support experience; or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, certifications, and related experience. One (1) to three (3) years of experience supporting enterprise systems, servers, virtualization platforms, cloud environments, or related infrastructure technologies is preferred. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of enterprise systems administration concepts; Windows and Linux operating systems; server hardware and virtualization technologies; storage concepts; backup and recovery operations; cloud computing fundamentals; infrastructure monitoring tools; scripting and automation concepts; information security principles as they relate to systems environments; disaster recovery practices; IT service management processes; change management procedures; and the interaction between systems infrastructure and other technology disciplines. Ability to install, configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise systems; analyze technical issues and implement effective solutions; perform routine system administration tasks; document technical procedures and configurations; learn new technologies; communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences; prioritize multiple assignments; work independently and collaboratively; maintain effective working relationships; and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or equivalent systems administration certifications. Physical/Environmental Requirements: Work is primarily performed in an office and data center environment and requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and occasionally lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. The position may require work in server rooms and data centers, participation in after-hours maintenance activities, on-call support rotations, disaster recovery exercises, and occasional travel between organizational facilities.
