Design, integrate and validate radio and IP network solutions for state-of-the-art air defence systems – from system architecture and test planning through to first deployment in the field.
Your Role & Responsibilities
Develop, integrate and optimise systems and components with radio communication, including their integration into tactical IP networks
Create concepts, architectures (HLD/LLD), specifications and test plans for systems and components, with a focus on VHF/UHF data links
Act as subject matter expert for radio and network configurations, covering IP switching and routing, virtualisation and secure communications
Analyse, model and simulate radio and antenna systems, and develop antenna concepts for platforms such as vehicles, shelters or containers
Plan and perform system tests, performance analyses and validations in the lab and in the field (e.g. EMC, antenna characteristics, RF performance, interference)
Develop test tools, define KPIs and prepare factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT)
Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex communication systems
Engage with customers, suppliers and external partners to define new technical features and evaluate equipment
Carry out requirements engineering with full traceability (e.g. IBM DOORS NG)
Support on-site first deployments, commissioning and troubleshooting
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the customer, suppliers and internal departments
Create and maintain technical documentation (specifications, test reports, operation manuals)
Required Technical & Professional Expertise
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Communications Engineering, Computer Science or a comparable field
At least 5 years of professional experience in radio communications, RF/antenna technology and/or network engineering, ideally in defence, rail or other mission-critical environments
Solid knowledge of RF design, antenna theory and radio protocols (e.g. VHF/UHF, Wi-Fi, 4G/5G)
Strong IP networking skills: routing and switching (e.g. OSPF, BGP, MPLS), VLANs, QoS and network virtualisation
Good understanding of cybersecurity in communication networks (firewalls, RADIUS/NAC, secure network architectures)
Experience with simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, MATLAB or comparable environments
Confident handling of RF measurement equipment (VNA, spectrum analyser, field strength measurement) and network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, iPerf)
Experience with military signals or tactical communication systems is a strong advantage
Analytical, structured way of working, strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on attitude in the lab and in the field
Team player with strong communication skills and willingness to travel to test and deployment sites
Very good English skills (written and spoken); German is a strong advantage
Eligibility to work in Switzerland (Swiss or EU citizenship required) and willingness to undergo a Swiss personnel security screening
