Systems Engineering Manager (m/f/d) Space System Studies

OHB System AG is a large system integrator for space-based solutions in Europe. In the field of defence systems, OHB leads several large-scale projects for strategic and tactical reconnaissance and early warning missions. To strengenth the team of lead system engineers for these large-scael projects OHB is looking for an experienced System Engineering Manager for a high motivated team of engineers to define a system of systems architecture together with the consortium partners

Your Tasks

  • Lead of technical projects team in a predevelopment phase for a space based early warning system
  • Technical lead and co-ordination of project teams for the development of system of space systems and –missions, including consortium partners and internal departments
  • Analysis of customer-, mission- and system requirements (specifications, SoW), including execution of a functional analysis, preparation of a requirements tree and identification of proposed adaptations
  • Technical lead and execution of trade-offs, analysis and definition of missionand system architecture
  • Definition and design and specification of system of systems including mission- and system design, analysis and design of entire system of systems and space system and their specifications
  • Partial responsibility for project success, including performance (schedule, cost, quality) as part of the entire project success
  • Definition and co-ordination of the technical interfaces between all space systems and external systems
  • Definition of a design, development and verification plan (DDV / AIV) for system of system in co-ordination with systems engineering and AIV / AIT
  • Implementation of the technical aspects of the company strategy
  • Possibly takeover of project management function
  • Temporarily or permanently other reasonable and equivalent activities according to existing knowledge and skills

Your Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline
  • Several years of professional experience across multiple space projects and relevant project lifecycle phases
  • Strong expertise in systems engineering, including requirements analysis, specification development, and space system architecture definition
  • Proven knowledge of mission analysis, system analysis, task structuring, and end-to-end space system design
  • Experience defining and managing interfaces with payloads, launchers, and ground segments
  • Sound understanding of budgeting, performance assessment, quality assurance, risk management, and ECSS standards
  • Ability to develop development, verification, qualification, and integration plans (DDV/AIV), including TRL assessment and qualification strategies
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, communication, and leadership skills, combined with a solution-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
