IT Systems & Infrastructure Projects Engineer

This is a project-focused infrastructure role. Candidates must have hands-on experience delivering IT implementation projects in an MSP, IT services company, or similar multi-client environment.

We are looking for an experienced IT Systems & Infrastructure Projects Engineer to join a growing technical team focused primarily on project delivery.

This is not a traditional help desk or day-to-day systems administration position. The role is centered around planning, implementing, migrating, and deploying technology solutions across multiple client environments.

Projects may include Microsoft 365 migrations, Windows Server deployments and upgrades, infrastructure refreshes, network implementations, cloud environments, virtualization, backup and disaster recovery solutions, and new client onboarding.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly organized, comfortable working directly with clients, and capable of taking ownership of technical projects from planning through implementation, testing, documentation, and completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver technical infrastructure projects from planning through completion
  

• Take ownership of assigned implementations with limited supervision
  

• Perform Microsoft 365 / Office 365 deployments and migrations
  

• Deploy, configure, migrate, and upgrade Windows Server environments
  

• Work with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related Windows infrastructure
  

• Implement on-premises, virtualized, and cloud-hosted server environments
  

• Deploy and configure virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware
  

• Configure and deploy network infrastructure, including:
  

  • Firewalls
    

  • Switches
    

  • Wireless networks
    

  • VLANs
    

  • VPNs
    

  • Routing and network segmentation
    

• Perform infrastructure upgrades, migrations, replacements, and cutovers
  

• Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity implementations
  

• Support new client onboarding and technology transitions
  

• Work across different client environments, technology stacks, and infrastructure standards
  

• Collaborate with clients and internal technical teams to scope technical requirements
  

• Troubleshoot complex issues that arise during implementations
  

• Coordinate project rollouts while minimizing client disruption
  

• Create clear technical documentation for configurations, procedures, environments, and completed projects
  

• Manage multiple projects and priorities independently
  

• Communicate project progress, risks, requirements, and technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  

Requirements

Required Experience

• 5+ years of progressive IT infrastructure, systems administration, or systems engineering experience
  

• Demonstrated experience personally implementing and completing infrastructure projects in production environments
  

• Strong Windows Server administration and deployment experience
  

• Strong Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP experience
  

• Experience with server migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure replacements
  

• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and migration projects
  

• Hands-on networking experience including firewalls, switching, VLANs, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure
  

• Experience with Hyper-V, VMware, or similar virtualization technologies
  

• Experience troubleshooting infrastructure issues across servers, networking, Microsoft environments, and client systems
  

• Strong technical documentation skills
  

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical deliverables
  

• Strong client-facing communication skills
  

Preferred Experience

• Previous MSP or IT services experience supporting multiple client environments
  

• Microsoft Azure infrastructure experience
  

• Microsoft Entra ID experience
  

• Backup and disaster recovery implementation experience
  

• Firewall deployment experience across platforms such as Fortinet, SonicWall, Sophos, Meraki, WatchGuard, or similar
  

• Experience with infrastructure assessments, network refreshes, server replacements, and client onboarding projects
  

• Relevant Microsoft, networking, virtualization, or infrastructure certifications

Successful candidates will generally have a history of remaining with employers for multiple years, with the majority of recent permanent positions ideally lasting approximately 2 to 3 years or longer.

The successful candidate should be able to move confidently between different client environments while maintaining strong organization, documentation, communication, and technical standards.
