About the Role

We are launching a new Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) partnership with a leading life sciences client based in Osaka, Japan, and are looking for a Senior Recruiter to help build this solution from the ground up. You will own full-cycle recruitment across corporate, commercial, and medical functions working in close partnership with the client's hiring managers and our Solution Leader to stand up a brand-new RPO engagement.

This is a rare opportunity to shape a function rather than simply operate within one — designing processes, establishing credibility with stakeholders, and setting the standard for how this partnership delivers.

What You'll Do

• Manage end-to-end recruitment across corporate, commercial, and medical roles— including corporate/commercial functions (e.g. sales, marketing, finance, HR, operations) and specialist medical positions (e.g. pharmacovigilance, market access, Medical Science Liaisons).
• Partner closely with the Solution Leader to build the RPO function together — shaping workflows, tools, and ways of working from day one.
• Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers and senior stakeholders, guiding them through a new recruitment model and driving adoption of best practices.
• Deliver change management efforts as the client transitions to the RPO solution, addressing resistance and building buy-in at all levels.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies to attract high-caliber corporate, commercial, and medical talent — including niche specialist profiles — in a competitive life sciences market.
• Deliver a high-quality candidate experience and ensure a smooth, professional process from first contact through offer.
• Track and report on recruitment metrics, using data to continuously improve the function's performance.
• Contribute to the broader success of the RPO partnership as a founding member of the delivery team.

What You Bring

• Proven experience as a senior or full-cycle recruiter, ideally within an RPO, agency, or in-house corporate/commercial recruitment environment.
• Experience recruiting for life sciences, pharma, biotech, or a related regulated industry is a strong plus, including familiarity with specialist medical/clinical roles (e.g. pharmacovigilance, market access, MSLs).
• Demonstrated success managing senior stakeholder relationships and influencing decision-makers.
• A track record of driving change and comfort operating in ambiguity — you thrive on building something new rather than following an established playbook.
• Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (bilingual required).
• Strong communication, consulting, and project-management skills.
• A collaborative, entrepreneurial mindset and genuine interest in helping shape a new function.

Additional Details

• Standard working hours: 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week, typically 9:00–18:00. There may be flextime arrangements or some variation depending on the client’s working structure.
• Social insurance: employment insurance, health insurance, workers’ compensation insurance, and welfare pension.
• Company-led discretionary bonus based on company performance.
• Commutation allowance provided.
• Hybrid / remote working available, subject to client requirements.
• Full two-day weekend system: Saturday and Sunday.
• Japan public holidays.
• Paid annual leave and sick leave.
• Special leave, including marriage, childbirth/childcare, nursing care, and bereavement leave.
• Annual salary range: JPY 6,000,000–8,000,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
