Show job description

Entrepreneurs don’t need more content. They need stories that move them to act.

As the Senior Content Producer on Shopify’s Multimedia Growth team, you’ll turn founder journeys, expert insights, and product stories into high-performing episodes, YouTube cuts, and social-first clips that actually drive growth. You think in hooks, tension, and payoff—but also in retention curves, search, and conversion.

You’ll own the journey from prep to publish: building a healthy guest pipeline, shaping interviews, steering on-set decisions, and pushing edits from rough to final. You’ll join a small team of creative crafters who care about performance and audience connection in equal measure—and who ship fast, test, and iterate in public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end prep-to-publish workflow for multimedia content, setting clear expectations with stakeholders and owning the quality and outcomes of what ships.

  • Manage on-set production: work closely with hosts, guests, and fellow producers to keep each piece of content aligned to the narrative and the growth goal.

  • Build and maintain a strong guest pipeline in partnership with editorial, comms, growth, brand, and external producers, so the team always knows what’s ready, what’s blocked, and what’s next.

  • Source and evaluate founders, experts, and guests whose stories resonate with our audience, using engagement, retention, and conversion data to benchmark fit.

  • Turn raw research, transcripts, and pre-interviews into narratives with clear hooks, focused throughlines, and strong pacing.

  • Drive post-production from rough cut to final, working with editors and external producers to refine for retention, clarity, and audience value.

  • Hold a strong point of view on narrative: decide what stays and what goes, shape cold opens and standout moments, and ensure each asset has a sharp, compelling story arc.

  • Shape cutdowns, extensions, and packaging that fuel the flywheel across YouTube, editorial, lifecycle, brand, and paid channels.

  • Stay current on podcast, YouTube, and social video trends, and bring what’s working in the market into how we make and package our shows.

Qualifications:

  • Significant experience producing growth-oriented storytelling for video and audio (e.g. video podcasts, multiformat series, creator-led formats, or multimedia editorial programs).

  • Fluency in organic growth metrics and levers: you understand how creative decisions impact reach, retention, subscribers, search, distribution, and conversion.

  • Proven ability to extract a compelling story from a subject matter, product, or person and translate it into an interview structure with real audience payoff—not just a fact collection.

  • Excellent editorial judgment: you can find the tension, stakes, specificity, emotional hook, and practical takeaway in a story.

  • Experience influencing outcomes on set, giving crisp direction to hosts, guests, and producers without creating churn.

  • Strong communication skills: you keep editorial, logistics, and creative direction aligned across many moving parts.

  • A channel stewardship mindset: you care about performance metrics and about the credibility, usefulness, and trust the content builds with entrepreneurs.

  • Comfort working with AI in your creative workflow, and curiosity to keep learning as the tools evolve.

  • A high quality bar paired with the ability to execute quickly in a fast-moving environment.
