Reporting to the Senior Director for Talent Management, the Talent Management Specialist provides exceptional service to candidates and hiring managers. Acting as the point of contact for questions pertaining to applying, interviewing, and onboarding, the Talent Management Specialist supports the full cycle of the applicant experience. The Talent Management Specialist works closely within the human resources team and with partner constituencies including but not limited to the provost’s office, academic departments, and information technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)


  • Manages job requisitions in Workday, reviews for completion and compliance; advises hiring managers on best practices when writing job descriptions
  • Oversees the job offer process by reviewing items such as interview notes, the recommended compensation, and the final candidate’s qualifications
  • Responds to and troubleshoots candidate and hiring manager questions in Workday and other related systems in a timely manner with a high level of customer service
  • Partners with HR Office and Compliance Manager to monitor background checks, onboarding and I-9s for completion, reaching out to candidates/employees as needed
  • Facilitates new hire orientation every other week with flexibility to meet with new hires as needed
  • Responds to service request tickets and email correspondences in a timely, helpful fashion
  • Delivers training to new hiring managers through individual consultations or in facilitated group sessions

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports events sponsored by the HR department (SJU Thanks U, Employee Recognition Awards, etc)
  • Provides front desk coverage in the absence of HR Office and Compliance Manager
  • Meets with employees in University City as needed
  • Gives feedback to Senior Director and other parties to improve the Workday system and enhance the hiring manager and candidate experience
  • Audits written materials for accuracy and updating as changes are made in the system or to our processes
  • Identifies AI-powered and human-informed processes to increase efficiency and service as approved by the University and the department
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (Education/Training and Experience)

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management or related field (high school diplomas, GEDs, or associate degrees may be considered when complemented with extensive and related work experience)
  • 2-3 years of experience in related setting such as human resources, recruiting, training, and/or higher education
  • Ability to comfortably navigate programs focused on word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, artificial intelligence, and adapt to new programs
  • Ability to offer exceptional customer service in a variety of media – email/tickets, phone, Zoom, etc

Preferred

  • Experience in one or more of the following will be highly preferred: Workday, E-Verify, I-9 processing, foreign national hiring
  • Experience with Google Workplace

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:

  • Most of the work day will be spent on a computer and telephone
  • Navigate to other buildings on campus
  • Flexible work schedule may be required to meet compliance demands (ie. starting before 9 a.m., working after 5 p.m.)
  • Office location will be located on Hawk Hill campus but going to the University City campus may be required on an as needed basis; visting the Lancaster location may be requested but rarely.
  • May be eligible for a flexible work arrangement (hybrid schedule) based on performance and university guidelines

Pay Transparancy:

Saint Joseph’s University may only consider applicants from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York (not including New York City zip codes), and Delaware (Delaware residents must regularly be present for over 50% of work time on an SJU campus).
