Program Overview
Quality Assurance (QA) Engineering is an increasingly important field, with strong global demand for professionals who can ensure software is reliable, secure and effective, particularly as AI transforms how software is built and tested. It offers an exciting career path for early-career professionals, combining technical skills, problem-solving and emerging AI capabilities with opportunities to work for leading companies around the world.
The Tana QA Engineering Bootcamp is a rigorous, virtual four-week, full-time training program designed to equip participants with practical skills in modern QA Engineering, including manual testing, test automation, programming, and AI-enabled QA. The objective is to help early-career professionals build the technical skills and practical experience needed to succeed in QA Engineering roles, whether with Tana's global clients, other international companies, or local employers.
The bootcamp is also an opportunity to invest in your professional development and demonstrate your technical capabilities, learning ability, and commitment. Participants who successfully complete the program and meet its requirements will receive a certificate of completion that can be shared on LinkedIn. Successful completion will also be a positive signal when being considered for future opportunities through Tana.
Program Details
- Dates: Monday, 16 November – Friday, 11 December 2026 (virtual/remote)
- Duration: 4 weeks, full-time
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EAT
- Cost: Free of charge
- Certification: Certificate of completion for participants who successfully meet the program requirements
The bootcamp is designed to simulate the intensity and expectations of a professional working environment, combining structured learning, practical exercises, technical assignments, and regular feedback.
This is a full-time commitment. The program is not suitable for individuals who are currently working full-time or part-time, or who cannot commit to the full four weeks.
Participation is entirely optional. However, those who accept a place will be expected to attend consistently, actively participate, complete assignments, and commit to the entire program.
What You'll Learn
The curriculum focuses on the technical skills and tools used by modern QA Engineers, with particular emphasis on automation and AI.
Key topics include:
- Manual QA & Testing Fundamentals: Core software testing principles, test planning, test case design, exploratory testing, bug reporting, and tools such as Jira.
- Test Automation & API Testing: Building automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript, alongside API testing with Postman.
- Programming Fundamentals: Developing practical programming and problem-solving skills, primarily using TypeScript, Java and/or Python.
- AI-Enabled QA: Learning how to use modern AI tools and workflows to improve testing efficiency, generate test cases, troubleshoot issues, and accelerate automation.
- QA for AI-Powered Applications & Agents: Exploring how QA practices are evolving to support AI-powered software, including testing AI outputs, evaluating reliability, and identifying unexpected behaviours.
Throughout the bootcamp, participants will be expected to apply their learning through practical exercises and assignments, rather than just attending lessons.
Who Should Apply?
The bootcamp is intended for recent graduates and early-career professionals, including those with a few years of work experience, who are interested in building a career in QA Engineering.
No prior QA experience is required. However, applicants should demonstrate:
- Programming foundations: Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript, and sufficient technical foundations to keep up with an intensive training program.
- Strong learning mindset: Genuine curiosity, eagerness to learn new technologies, and willingness to tackle unfamiliar problems.
- Coachability: Openness to feedback and the ability to learn from mistakes and continuously improve.
- Professionalism and collaboration: Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Full-time availability: Ability to commit to the full four-week program, including all scheduled activities and assignments.
Participants must be Kenyan citizens and eligible to work in Kenya.
Program Commitment & Expectations
The bootcamp is a rigorous, full-time training program designed to simulate the structure and expectations of a professional working environment. Participation is entirely voluntary. However, those who accept a place are expected to commit fully to the four-week program. Participants understand and acknowledge the following:
- Full-time, structured training (virtual/remote): The bootcamp runs Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM EAT. It is trainer-led, not self-paced or asynchronous, and is not suitable for individuals who are working full-time or part-time.
- Daily participation: Participants will have several scheduled meetings and check-ins throughout the day, with assignments and deliverables due at specific times.
- Attendance and engagement: Participants are expected to attend all required sessions, complete assignments on time, actively engage in the training, and respond to feedback on their work.
- Performance expectations: Participants will be assessed throughout the program. Those who consistently fail to meet attendance, participation, or performance expectations may be removed from the bootcamp.
- Certification: Participants who successfully complete the program and meet its requirements will receive an official Tana certificate of completion, which they can display on LinkedIn.
- Future opportunities: Participation or completion does not guarantee employment with Tana. However, successful participants will be prioritised for consideration for relevant future QA opportunities through Tana, subject to client requirements and selection processes.
