What are we looking for?

Skills Required

4+ years' Australian accounting and tax experience.
Strong experience preparing Financial Statements, Tax Returns, and BAS for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
Experience with multi-entity groups and private businesses.
Strong skills in Xero, Excel, and BGL Simple Fund 360.
Ability to review workpapers, reconciliations, and work completed by junior staff.
Strong understanding of Australian tax and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

What will you do?

Financial Statements & Tax Compliance

Prepare annual financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders in Xero
Prepare income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
Prepare BAS and IAS work, GST reconciliations, and related compliance work where required
Complete balance sheet reconciliations, tax reconciliations, and supporting schedules to a high standard

Job Ownership & Workpapers

Take ownership of assigned compliance jobs from commencement through to a complete review-ready file
Review prior year files, permanent documents, and available client information before commencing work
Maintain complete, logical, and easy-to-review workpapers that clearly support the financial statements and tax position
Identify missing information, unusual balances, and matters requiring client follow-up or senior input
Manage multiple client deadlines and escalate timing or information risks early

Review & Quality Control

Review work completed by junior accountants, bookkeepers, and other preparers.
Review prior year files, permanent documents, and available client information before commencing work.
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance while providing constructive feedback.

Tax & Technical Support

Identify common Australian tax issues and conduct technical research when needed.
Escalate complex matters appropriately.

Systems & Data Management

Utilize Xero, Xero Tax, XPM, Karbon, SuiteFiles, SharePoint, BGL, and Excel.
Maintain data accuracy, confidentiality, and file integrity.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with Australian managers, partners, and team members.
Support and guide junior staff while following quality and workflow standards.
