Why work for Tax Time?
Tax Time is an Arizona-based tax and bookkeeping firm with a fully remote tax team. Our opportunity is bigger than our current capacity. We have more clients who want to work with us than we can serve, and we're looking for an experienced Tax Manager who wants to do more than review returns.
You'll take real ownership of our tax operation. That means leading our preparers, maintaining high quality standards, improving workflows, and building the capacity to serve more clients across the U.S.
The Role
You'll own our tax preparation operation from workload assignment through final review and approval. This is a hands-on leadership role. One moment you're reviewing a return and coaching a preparer, the next you're solving a client issue, and you're always looking for ways to make the operation better.
What you'll own:
- The tax production pipeline in TaxDome: assigning work, tracking deadlines, and moving stalled returns forward
- Review and approval of preparers' returns
- Leading, coaching, and holding the preparer team accountable for quality, productivity, attendance, and deadlines
- Team performance tracking through scorecards and revenue per hour
- Client escalations and technical tax questions by phone and Zoom
- Specialty filings, including LLC filings, abatements, Form 2553s, and 1099-NECs
- Capacity planning and flagging work that falls below profitability expectations
What you bring:
- Multiple years preparing and reviewing U.S. individual and closely held business returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120)
- Experience supervising, reviewing, or training other preparers
- Active PTIN, or willingness to obtain one before starting
- Excellent spoken and written English for direct communication with U.S. clients
- Comfort having direct accountability conversations with a team
- Availability to work Arizona business hours (8am to 5pm MST, which is 10am to 7pm in Colombia)
Nice to have:
- Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA
- Experience at a U.S. firm serving small businesses and their owners
- TaxDome or TaxSlayer experience
Compensation: $48,000 to $58,000 USD per year, plus up to a 10% performance bonus. This is a full-time position through a local employer of record.
Hiring process: A short intro video, a culture interview, and a technical interview with the firm owner.
