  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and feedback to support team performance and professional development.
  • Audit and review tax plans, projections, research, and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, applicable tax requirements, and alignment with client objectives.
  • Identify unsupported assumptions, calculation errors, implementation gaps, and potential tax risks; ensure necessary corrections are completed before delivery.
  • Monitor engagement progress, resolve routine issues, and escalate complex technical matters or significant client concerns to the Senior Tax Strategist.
  • Support onboarding, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Improve workflows, documentation standards, and quality review procedures.

Client Advisory and Tax Planning

  • Serve as the primary advisor for an assigned client portfolio, overseeing communications, expectations, and planning engagements.
  • Lead quarterly client meetings to review financial information, identify tax-saving opportunities, and explain recommendations clearly.
  • Evaluate clients’ business objectives, major transactions, investments, and family wealth structures to develop appropriate tax planning recommendations.
  • Guide the development and implementation of individual and business tax strategies, including entity structuring, transaction planning, disposition analysis, and year-end projections.
  • Conduct and review federal and multistate tax research, documenting conclusions and supporting authority.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Tax Strategist on complex strategies and obtain required review before presenting or implementing recommendations.
  • Track implementation and follow through on agreed-upon action items with clients, internal teams, and external professionals.

Client Service and Practice Operations

  • Ensure timely, thorough responses to client communications across the team.
  • Maintain accurate client records, engagement status, tasks, and deadlines in the CRM.
  • Oversee preparation of clear planning summaries and supporting documentation for client reference.
  • Identify and address service concerns to maintain strong client relationships.
  • Handle confidential client and company information with discretion and integrity.

  • Active CPA license and/or Enrolled Agent credential required.
  • At least five years of progressive tax experience, including substantial tax planning or advisory work with high-net-worth individuals and/or entrepreneurial businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams of tax professionals, delegating assignments, coaching staff, and overseeing engagement quality and deadlines.
  • Experience auditing and reviewing individual and business tax plans, validating calculations and technical positions, identifying risks, and ensuring corrective action.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing client relationships and multiple tax engagements.
  • Strong knowledge of individual, pass-through entity, and corporate taxation, including federal and multistate planning considerations.
  • Hands-on UltraTax experience required.
  • Proficiency with tax research, planning, and workflow tools, including platforms such as CS Planner, Google Workspace, Slack, and CRM systems.
