Team Lead

We are looking for a person who is passionate about development and people management at the same time and is excited to join and lead the team of our Engineers

What you will be doing:
- Own team execution, capacity, workload distribution, and delivery visibility.
- Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team (BE, FE, QA), including regular 1:1s, feedback, performance reviews, and handling performance issues.
- Participate in hiring and onboarding.
- Partner with Product Managers on priorities, estimates, planning, and matching team assignments with the product roadmap.
- Lead estimation and sprint planning, track dependencies and risks.
- Help Product Managers coordinate technical dependencies with other teams and external parties.
- Maintain enough technical understanding to help engineers plan features, identify risks, and make team-level technical decisions.
- Involve Backend, QA, Frontend, Staff Engineers, or other engineering leaders when deeper expertise or a broader technical decision is needed.
- Maintain team-level engineering and quality standards while working with functional leads responsible for broader technical and QA strategy.
- Make sure the team pays attention to code quality, testing, documentation, observability, security, and technical debt.
- Participate in the daily rotating on-call during business hours, monitoring production health and investigating issues when they occur.
- Actively use AI coding tools and agents and encourage their effective use within the team.
- Continuously look for ways to improve the team’s development and delivery processes.

You certainly have:
- Previous experience managing a software engineering team
- Strong software engineering background. Backend experience is preferred, but a strong full-stack background can also be considered.
- Strong understanding of web application architecture, APIs, integrations, databases, and production systems.
- Ability to understand technical proposals, challenge assumptions, identify risks, and help engineers choose an appropriate solution.
- Ability to plan and estimate features together with engineers and Product Managers.
- Experience with sprint planning, dependency management, capacity planning, and release readiness.
- Experience managing and developing engineers through regular feedback, coaching, goals, and performance reviews.
- Ability to use metrics, logs, dashboards, and error-tracking tools when investigating production issues.
- Proficiency in using AI coding assistants and agents for real engineering work, while critically reviewing and validating their output.
- Ability to work with Staff Engineers and functional leads and follow the established escalation path when a decision is outside the team’s scope.
- Strong communication and self-management skills
- Ability to balance people management, delivery needs, technical quality, and product priorities
- B2+ (upper intermediate+) level of English and are ready to use it in everyday communication
You can be located anywhere in +/- 2 hours of the Kyiv time zone, but you have to be a citizen of Ukraine initially.
Can legally travel abroad if needed - position may require business trips in the EU.
