Team Lead Cost Accounting

Would you like to combine financial reliability with people-focused leadership and meaningful change? As Team Lead Cost Accounting in Brussels, you and your team ensure high-quality financial administration while building smarter processes, greater ownership and a future-ready Finance organisation. As a supporter of change, you make a visible difference for your colleagues and for NN.

Your impact at NN: what you will do

You are responsible for the quality, results and continued development of Cost Accounting. You ensure that daily operations run smoothly and on time, bring structure to competing priorities and make decisions when obstacles arise. At the same time, you coach the team, strengthen collaboration and turn opportunities for improvement into concrete results. When complex issues or important deadlines require it, you are ready to work directly on the financial content.

Key responsibilities:

  • You ensure reliable daily operations and accurate, timely financial administration. You set priorities, monitor quality and resolve operational obstacles.
  • You take responsibility for key Cost Accounting processes, including Purchase-to-Pay, supplier data, invoices and payments, employee expenses, payroll accounting and fixed assets.
  • You coordinate financial closing and compliance activities, including accruals, provisions, cost allocation, balance-sheet reconciliations, VAT, financial reporting and audit support.
  • You provide clear direction to the team, clarify goals and responsibilities and coach colleagues in developing their expertise, autonomy and ownership.
  • You collaborate with Finance, Procurement, HR, Business and IT to simplify processes and improve efficiency through data, digitalisation and automation.

Who you will work with

You will lead the Cost Accounting team, consisting of eight colleagues, including the Team Lead. The team combines experienced colleagues with more operational profiles. You help strengthen its collaboration and expertise while creating clarity around priorities and responsibilities. Within the Finance organisation, you report to the Manager Finance, Accounting Control & Treasury. You also work closely with colleagues across Finance, Procurement, HR, Business and IT.

Your attractive salary package is supplemented by:

  • group and hospitalisation insurance;
  • meal and eco-vouchers;
  • a company car;
  • 20 holiday days and 12 recovery days.

  • a diverse range of training opportunities;
  • a comprehensive onboarding programme;
  • workshops, coaching and well-being services;
  • opportunities for internal mobility.

At NN, we work in a hybrid way. In consultation with your team, you decide where and when you work. Your official workplace is Brussels, easily accessible by public transport.

Who you are

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a comparable field, or have gained an equivalent level through relevant professional experience.
  • You have Cost Accounting experience in a corporate environment and understand processes such as Purchase-to-Pay, financial closing, accruals, balance-sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and VAT.
  • You have experience guiding, coaching or leading colleagues, or you are ready to take a next step into leadership from a strong financial foundation.
  • You translate complex financial issues into practical decisions, set clear priorities and follow actions through to completion.
  • You constructively challenge existing ways of working, collaborate effectively with different stakeholders and use data, digitalisation and automation to improve Finance.

Unsure whether you meet every criterion? We encourage you to apply anyway. We are interested in your experience, your motivation and the unique contribution you could make.
