The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced leader for an internationally active reinsurance company operating in the Life & Health sector. In this role, you will assume both technical and operational responsibility for a team of underwriters, playing a key role in the profitable development of the portfolio and the expansion of business relationships across the markets under your responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting Leadership

• Lead and coordinate underwriting activities within the assigned market area.
  
• Ensure consistent application of underwriting guidelines, technical standards, and profitability criteria.
  
• Provide technical guidance and support to underwriters on complex cases and risk assessments.
  
• Analyze and underwrite complex Life & Health reinsurance risks.
  
• Oversee the technical quality of underwriting decisions and contract structures.
  

Client & Market Management

• Manage and further develop relationships with cedents, brokers, and other market participants.
  
• Contribute to negotiations and the structuring of complex reinsurance solutions.
  
• Identify market opportunities and business development initiatives to support sustainable portfolio growth.
  
• Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and technical discussions.
  

Portfolio Management

• Monitor portfolio performance, claims experience, and profitability.
  
• Support the development of strategies aimed at optimizing business results.
  
• Lead and coordinate renewal and contract extension processes.
  
• Conduct market and competitive analyses to identify relevant trends and opportunities.
  

Team Leadership

• Provide both technical and people leadership to a specialized underwriting team.
  
• Foster the professional and personal development of team members.
  
• Organize team resources and ensure efficient workflows and operational effectiveness.
  
• Promote a high-performance, collaborative, and customer-focused team culture.
  

Requisitos

Your Profile

Education

• University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
  
• Additional qualifications in Actuarial Science, Insurance, or Finance are considered an advantage.
  

Professional Experience

• Significant professional experience (minimum 8 years) in Reinsurance, Insurance Operations, Actuarial, or Underwriting functions.
  
• Experience within the Life & Health business, including Life, Health, and/or Accident insurance.
  
• Proven experience in team leadership, management, or coordination of technical teams.
  

Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of the reinsurance business, particularly within Life & Health Reinsurance.
  
• Solid expertise in risk assessment, underwriting, and portfolio management.
  
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including Solvency II.
  
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  
• Experience with Power BI, R, or similar analytical tools is considered an advantage.
  

Languages

• Native-level German or German proficiency at C1/C2 level.
  
• Excellent English language skills (minimum B2/C1).
  
• Additional European languages are considered an asset.
