The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is an individual contributor on the Fortress Delivery - Government team. The TAM is the technical point of contact for assigned scope within a federal program, turning client mission requirements into platform configuration, delivery tasking, and technical guidance for working-level government stakeholders.
The position bridges client advisory, delivery execution, and product feedback, offering direct exposure to high-impact DoD and Navy programs at a career stage where few professionals gain this depth of hands-on federal cybersecurity experience. The TAM stays hands-on with the Fortress platform and assigns and reviews the work of Forward Deployed Engineers before it reaches the client. The TAM also brings field insight to Product and passes follow-on opportunities from delivery to Business Development.
This is the entry level of the Technical Account Manager family. The TAM works within a Fortress lance under a Senior Technical Account Manager or portfolio lead, with coaching toward independent ownership of a program relationship and a defined path to Senior Technical Account Manager.

Responsibilities Include
- Serve as the technical contact for assigned client stakeholders within a federal program.
- Deliver technical briefings, demonstrations and working sessions to technical and non-technical government audiences.
- Interpret the federal compliance context, including RMF, NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, EO 14028, SBOM and supply chain risk, sufficiently to explain client drivers and delivery constraints.
- Document the client environment, configuration decisions, technical dependencies and open items.
- Partner with the Integrated Customer Advocate on satisfaction signals and unmet client needs.
- Configure and tune Fortress platform capabilities to client mission requirements across C-SCRM, Vulnerability Management, Continuous Monitoring and related solution areas.
- Translate client requirements into delivery tasking for Forward Deployed Engineers and review output for technical accuracy before it reaches the client.
- Track technical risks and dependencies and escalate to the Program Manager with a recommended course of action.
- Route recurring client requirements and field insight to Product.
- Support onboarding and enablement of new client users and maintain reference materials.
- Surface technical requirements uncovered during delivery that may indicate follow-on scope.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 or more years in a technical role: solutions engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity or technical delivery.
- Active DoD security clearance at the level required by the supported program, with the ability to obtain a higher level.
- Demonstrated ability to present technical material to mixed technical and non-technical audiences.
- Working knowledge of at least one federal cybersecurity framework, such as NIST, RMF or CMMC.
- Experience in Agile delivery environments including sprint ceremonies and cross-functional coordination.
- Ability to independently use and refine AI-driven prompts to improve the quality and efficiency of regular work processes.
- Resident within commutable distance of the supported federal work site.
Preferred Skills
- Scrum Master certification such as PSM or CSM.
- Hands-on platform configuration, software development or test automation experience.
- Prior support to DoD or Navy programs.
- Technical documentation and enablement content development.
Education
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent professional work experience required.
