Technical Architect – openDesk & Enterprise Collaboration

  • Contract type: B2B
  • Working arrangement: Approximately 60% remote and 40% on-site. Fully or predominantly remote working may be negotiable depending on your experience and suitability for the role.
  • Duration: 3 Months + 6 Month Extension

We are looking for an experienced Technical Architect to lead a proof of concept assessing openDesk as an enterprise collaboration platform and a business continuity solution for Microsoft 365.

You will own the pilot environment on STACKIT, assess its capabilities against business, compliance and security requirements, and provide clear recommendations on integration, resilience, implementation effort and cost.

This is a hands-on role for an architect or technical lead with experience in enterprise collaboration, open-source platforms and Microsoft 365.

We welcome candidates with direct openDesk experience or practical experience with its underlying components.

Your responsibilities

  • Set up, configure and operate the openDesk pilot environment on STACKIT, acting as the technical escalation point.
  • Design identity and access integration, including single sign-on, multifactor authentication, user provisioning and group-based permissions.
  • Assess compliance capabilities such as information classification, DLP, retention, archiving, eDiscovery and encryption, comparing them with Microsoft 365.
  • Test document compatibility and collaboration with Microsoft Office users, plus meeting interoperability with Teams-based partners.
  • Design and test business continuity scenarios covering mailbox availability, mail routing, switchover and recovery back to Microsoft 365.
  • Evaluate backup restoration, data migration, export and portability.
  • Define security logging and monitoring integration, including forwarding logs to Splunk.
  • Assess usability across Windows, macOS, iOS and iPadOS, including browser editing and desktop application compatibility.
  • Document configurations, test findings, technical gaps, implementation effort and cost inputs to support the final recommendation.

Your experience

  • Eight or more years in enterprise collaboration platforms or infrastructure, including a technical lead role.
  • Hands-on experience with openDesk or relevant components such as Nextcloud, Open-Xchange, Collabora, Element/Matrix, Jitsi, Univention Nubus or Keycloak.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 security and compliance, including Purview, information protection, DLP, Exchange Online retention and eDiscovery.
  • Experience with enterprise identity integration using ADFS, Entra ID, OIDC, SAML or LDAP.
  • Knowledge of email infrastructure, mail routing, backup and recovery, and data migration.
  • Experience designing or testing business continuity and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Fluent English.

Useful additional experience

  • Kubernetes deployment and operations.
  • STACKIT or sovereign cloud environments.
  • SailPoint identity governance and provisioning.
  • Splunk or other SIEM integrations.
  • Enterprise collaboration migrations and proof-of-concept delivery.
