REWARDING CAREERS ARE BUILT HERE

The Safety Codes Council (the Council) is a leader in Alberta’s structural and technical safety system. What we do matters – our work helps make the province safer, supports healthy communities, and contributes to lasting economic growth and prosperity.

What sets us apart isn’t just the impact of our work – it’s how we do it. Our people are trusted professionals who value sound judgment, learning, and integrity. We’ve built a collaborative, service‑oriented culture where work is meaningful and where people are supported to grow, contribute, and do their best work.

ABOUT THE OPPORRTUNITIES

We are recruiting for three technical compliance and advisory roles across the Council. Each opportunity requires specialized knowledge, strong professional judgment, and a commitment to consistent, accountable safety codes service. While these roles support a shared public-safety purpose, their focus is different:

The Safety Codes Officer (SCO), Fire serves as a senior fire-safety resource within our team, helping protect Albertans. In this role, you’ll assess fire and life-safety risks, conduct complex inspections and reviews, determine compliance, apply regulatory responses, and support fire investigations.

We are seeking two Fire SCOs to join our team in hybrid roles in Edmonton or remotely within Alberta. If you’re a skilled fire-safety professional with sound judgment who values autonomy, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement, we’d love to hear from you!

The Safety Codes Officer (SCO), Building serves as a technical subject matter expert in building-code interpretation, supporting safe and consistent services. In this role, you’ll interpret codes and legislation, advise on complex building matters, and support compliance activities, complaints, and investigations.

We are seeking one Building SCOs to join our team in a hybrid role in Edmonton. If you bring strong technical expertise, practical problem-solving skills, and a commitment to public safety, we'd love to hear from you.

The Compliance Technical Advisor (CTA), Plumbing, Gas & Private Sewage serves as a key resource for strengthening regulatory oversight, organizational accountability, and consistent safety codes practices across Alberta. In this role, you’ll audit accredited organizations, assess permitting and inspection practices, evaluate compliance, and provide technical guidance.

We are seeking one CTA to join our team in a hybrid role in Edmonton or remotely within Alberta. If you’re a collaborative professional with strong analytical skills and a commitment to regulatory consistency, we’d love to hear from you.
