Hexagon’s Infrastructure & Geospatial Business Area combines measurement, positioning, and mapping technologies to help geodata-dependent industries capture, measure, and visualise the physical world – turning data into actionable insights for better decisions and greater efficiency.
Leica Geosystems is looking for a highly motivated and passionate Senior Software Engineer to strengthen our data-modelling platform team. Our data management SDK is a future-proof data-modelling framework – the platform technology that manages our domain data (data structure and persistence) in a common, reusable way across our product portfolio. Our vision is an end-to-end, automated round-trip of the data, from the Common Data Environment (CDE) through the domain models that power our digital reality platform.
You will help shape the C++ core of this platform – designing the domain models, containers and persistence mechanisms that many products build upon. We work test-driven, with strong quality gates, and we actively embrace AI as a first-class part of how modern software is engineered. If you love clean architecture, well-modelled data, and using the latest AI tooling to multiply your impact, we want to hear from you.
Tech Lead / Senior Software (C++) (f/m/d)
Heerbrugg
100%
This appeals to you
- You design, implement and evolve the C++ core of the data management SDK – domain models, data structures, persistence and the APIs through which products consume them.
- You ensure our domain data is modelled in a common, consistent and future-proof way, applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) so that many products can rely on one shared foundation.
- You support the end-to-end data round-trip vision – from the CDE through federated synchronisation and GraphQL federation.
- You code because you love clean code, good performance, scalability and meaningful test coverage, and you keep our SonarQube quality gates green.
- You embed AI-assisted engineering into the team’s daily practice, using it to raise craftsmanship, productivity and quality.
- You act as Tech Lead for the team – you agree and hand over high-level work packages, support their vertical slicing and realisation, multiply knowledge across the team and foster pro-active, self-dependent work.
- You translate functional and non-functional requirements into module design or architecture (together with other Tech Leads, Technical Project Leads or Architects) and provide technical risk assessment for larger changes (architecture, module design, interfaces) and technology trade-offs.
- You manage technical stakeholders and peers to align the design, drive the decision-making process and present results to stakeholders – coaching and guiding developers, conducting thorough code reviews and acting as a role model for the team.
This is you
MUST:
- 5+ years of professional experience building production software in modern C++ (C++17 / C++20).
- Strong grasp of data modelling, data structures and persistence concepts, with applied experience of Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
- Hands-on, daily use of AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT / Claude) for code generation, refactoring, tests, debugging and documentation – with effective prompt engineering, a track record of raising productivity and quality, and critical evaluation of their output.
- Modern, test-driven development practices within an agile environment, and a habit of automating everything.
- Version control with Git (GitHub) and CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions or comparable).
- You express your opinion freely, challenge constructively, and align with agreed team decisions once a direction is chosen.
- Fluent in English (written & spoken); German is a plus.
- Championing the safe, effective and pragmatic adoption of AI – balancing quality, security and maintainability – and staying current with the fast-moving AI landscape.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with GraphQL / REST, CQRS, federated data and distributed systems.
- Practical experience applying AI/ML techniques to data-modelling problems – e.g. schema inference, automated data mapping/validation, semantic enrichment or intelligent data transformation.
- Docker / containerised toolchains and static-analysis / quality gates (e.g. SonarQube).
- CMake, package management (e.g. Conan) and cross-platform development.
- Exposure to cloud-native development (AWS).
We offer you
- Flexible annual working hours based on a 40-hour week
- 25–30 days of vacation, depending on age
- Hybrid working model
- Bonus system and extra-mandatory pension fund contributions
- Opportunities for personal and professional development
- Relocation support
- Employee discounts and various company events
- International working environment with collaboration across teams and countries
