Technical Lead Automation (hybrid)

About the Role:
We are looking for a Technical Automation Lead to join our engineering team and take ownership of designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated testing solutions.The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on automation engineer with solid experience in Java, Selenium, Typescript and Playwright, API testing, test framework development and CI/CD environments. You will work closely with developers, QA engineers and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality, reliable software releases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites for web applications
• Mentor other automation engineers through pairing and code reviews
• Maintain the existing automation framework using Java, Selenium and Playwright and Typescript for the new one
• Create and maintain functional, regression, sanity and end-to-end automated tests
• Perform API testing and automate REST API validation
• Analyze test failures, troubleshoot issues and continuously improve test stability and reliability
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab
• Contribute to automation architecture and identify opportunities to improve test coverage and execution efficiency
• Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers and business stakeholders to define testing approaches and priorities
• Participate in code reviews and ensure automation code follows best practices
• Generate and analyze test execution reports using tools such as Allure
• Work with containerized and distributed environments, including Kubernetes, where required
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, automation practices and tooling
• Bring innovation to the team on the AI side: explore, pilot and roll out AI tools and practices that make writing tests easier and debugging faster
• Use AI tools to write new tests faster, generate tests from user stories, and analyse logs and failures
• Build reusable AI skills and prompts the whole team can use for writing and debugging tests
• Analyse test execution results and historical data (e.g. Allure reports) to find the main causes of failure and recommend next steps
• Continuously improve test stability and reliability, reducing flaky tests

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in QA Automation / SDET roles
• Hands-on experience with Java or JavaScript
• Strong practical experience with automation frameworks (Selenium or Playwright) is required
• Experience with REST API testing and automation
• Knowledge of TestNG, Maven and Git
• Experience working with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience developing or significantly contributing to automation frameworks from scratch
• Hands-on, everyday use of AI tools in engineering work
• Good understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Good communication and collaboration skills
