Meet the Team

Join Cisco’s Splunk engineering organization and help shape the next generation of data ingestion monitoring. Our team builds a production monitoring solution that helps Splunk Cloud customers understand the health and performance of their data ingestion pipelines through dashboards, intelligent alerts, and proactive diagnostics.

We’re continuing to expand the product with new features and AI-powered capabilities while evolving it into a broader monitoring platform for the Data Management organization. You’ll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, contribute to strategic initiatives across the organization, and build integrations that extend the platform’s capabilities. Working alongside engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams, you’ll solve complex engineering challenges and create solutions that scale across Splunk Cloud customers.

Your Impact
As a Technical Leader, Software Development, you’ll be a hands-on technical lead responsible for designing and delivering scalable backend services while helping shape the evolution of Splunk’s ingest monitoring platform. Your work will directly contribute to product innovation, operational reliability, and broader engineering initiatives.

  • Design and build scalable backend services and APIs on Splunk Cloud Platform, supporting customers with diverse data ingestion volumes and performance requirements.
  • Drive technical execution by partnering with engineers, engineering managers, and architects to define solutions, resolve engineering challenges, and deliver reliable features.
  • Develop new monitoring and AI-powered capabilities, including proactive issue detection, intelligent diagnostics, and automated remediation to improve data ingestion health and reliability.
  • Shape the evolution of the monitoring platform by building integrations and contributing to cross-organizational initiatives involving metrics, events, logs, and traces.
  • Ensure production reliability through troubleshooting, incident resolution, and participation in a scheduled 24/7 on-call rotation, supporting service availability and operational commitments.

Success in this role means delivering scalable, reliable engineering solutions, contributing to the platform’s continued evolution, and making a measurable impact on customer experience and engineering outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field and 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience; or a master’s degree and 6+ years; or a PhD and 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, and operating backend services or applications in a public cloud environment such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience architecting or developing scalable distributed systems, including designing for performance, reliability, and high-volume workloads.
  • Hands-on software development experience building backend applications, services, or APIs using Python, Go, or Java.
  • Experience providing technical leadership on software engineering projects, including system design, technical decision-making, and guiding implementation or delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing or operating production SaaS platforms, including observability, monitoring, incident response, or service reliability practices.
  • Experience with Splunk, log analytics, telemetry pipelines, data ingestion systems, or similar large-scale data platforms.
  • Full-stack development experience, including building web applications or user interfaces using React or similar JavaScript frameworks.
  • Experience designing or implementing AI-powered capabilities, automated diagnostics, remediation workflows, or intelligent operational tooling.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools or coding agents to support software engineering, testing, troubleshooting, or developer productivity.
