Think of it as a conductor's role — the score comes from our CTO and Architect, the talent is a team of five to six strong engineers, but you set the tempo, keep every section in sync, and make sure the most important part is always being played. This role has two faces, and you are the single owner of both. What Success Looks Like Six to twelve months in, every customer knows when to expect project completion — and trusts that date. 4IR leadership has a clear picture of engineering capacity and can confidently commit the next project. Every engineer knows what to work on next, with requirements defined before they get there. The backlog is clean, current, and actionable. And the team is operating with more intention and less firefighting than when you arrived. What You'll Own Customer project clarity — scope, timeline, and budget for every active deployment project (typically 2–3 simultaneously) The forward view — when current projects finish and when we can confidently commit the next one Engineering capacity — an honest, visible picture of what the team can take on A refined internal backlog — prioritized and requirements-ready the moment capacity frees up Face 1: Customer Project Manager Work with customers and 4IR engineers to clarify scope and estimate effort for infrastructure deployment projects Host regular status calls with industrial stakeholders, from plant floor to corporate IT/OT leadership Produce visual milestone plans and keep them truthful; manage scope creep deliberately — surfaced, decided, and communicated, never absorbed silently Face 2: Internal Product Owner Run projects so there are no surprises for customers and no surprises for the team Translate the CTO and Architect's roadmap into organized epics and well-defined tasks spanning new features, CI/CD pipelines, IaC/GitOps, and security enhancements Run a lightweight agile cadence — enough structure for clarity, not so much it creates drag Balance the backlog across tech-debt burndown, productivity investments, and new features Priority physics: support calls first, customer projects second, backlog third — make sure the queue never goes stale and the next most important thing is always ready to pull What You Bring Required: OT/industrial PM credibility — you've sat across from plant managers and controls engineers and they took you seriously. You're the bridge between modern project approaches and industrial customer expectations, able to manage internally with flexibility and adaptability while communicating with customers using traditional delivery planning methods. Strong communication and a systems integrator Project Manager background are table stakes. Must be available for at least 4 hours of overlap with standard U.S. Central Time business hours (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) At the senior level, add: 7+ years of experience and IT fluency alongside your OT depth — you can hold your own in engineering discussions about cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and IaC, and write requirements engineers respect. Preferred (each one moves you up the list): SCADA/HMI experience (Ignition is a big one); Kubernetes, Azure, or IaC/GitOps familiarity; MSP or managed services background; commercial awareness of how delivery dynamics affect business outcomes; CSPO or similar certification.
