Technical Presales Specialist

PFH Technology are seeking a Commercial Presales Specialist to join our growing team.

Role Overview

We are seeking a technically strong and commercially aware Technical Presales Engineer to join our growing Digital Workspace team. You will serve as the primary technical authority throughout the sales cycle for end user device and digital workspace opportunities — working in close partnership with PFH's Commercial Sales Director for EUC to form a dedicated, high-performing sales and technical pairing.

Where the Commercial Sales Director leads commercial strategy, revenue growth, and customer relationships, you will own the technical depth behind every opportunity — translating customer requirements into compelling, deliverable solutions and providing the technical credibility that differentiates PFH in competitive bids and tenders.

Contract: Permanent

Location: Cork/Hybrid

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Knowledge & Thought Leadership

  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of end user device market trends — hardware innovation, OS roadmaps (including Windows 12 readiness), form factors, AI PC and Copilot+ device developments, and sustainability initiatives across HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Microsoft Surface.
  • Track silicon vendor roadmaps (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA) to advise on compute and GPU requirements for specialist workloads such as engineering, medical imaging, and AI-enabled applications.
  • Monitor OGP framework developments, public sector procurement trends, and evolving tender requirements in the Irish government and Semi-State market.
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert on EUC trends, delivering regular market intelligence briefings to the wider sales team and contributing to joint go-to-market planning with the Commercial Sales Director.
  • Maintain and grow relevant OEM and vendor certifications — HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Microsoft — to support PFH's accreditation requirements and partner status.

2. Technical Solutioning & Customer Alignment

  • Lead technical discovery with customers to understand endpoint requirements in depth — hardware specifications, security posture, manageability requirements, deployment constraints, and operational SLAs.
  • Design comprehensive end-to-end device solutions covering device selection, imaging standards, white-glove Windows Autopilot provisioning workflows, localisation requirements, asset tagging, and lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate closely with PFH's 35,000 sq ft Cork build and configuration centre team to validate that proposed solutions are operationally deliverable within customer SLAs, ensuring imaging workflows, stock holding requirements, and logistics plans are fully scoped.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation: Bills of Materials (BOMs), solution design documents, proof-of-concept (POC) proposals, and technical compliance matrices.
  • Deliver engaging customer workshops, product demonstrations, and technical presentations — on-site, remotely, and at partner or vendor events.

3. Bid, Tender & Proposal Support

  • Own the technical content in all formal bid and tender responses across OGP frameworks, Semi-State, Irish private sector, and Ricoh International opportunities — working hand-in-hand with the Commercial Sales Director who leads the commercial strategy.
  • Ensure complete and precise technical compliance with customer requirements in complex ITT, RFP, and RFI responses, including detailed technical specifications, deployment methodologies, and SLA justifications.
  • Develop and maintain a library of reusable technical bid content — solution templates, technical appendices, configuration guides, and architecture diagrams — to accelerate response quality and turnaround time.
  • Support the Commercial Sales Director in bid review sessions, providing technical risk assessment and solution validation prior to submission.

Candidate Profile

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical presales, solutions architecture, or IT consultancy role with a focus on end user devices or enterprise endpoints.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial PC hardware across HP, Lenovo, Dell, and Microsoft Surface — including desktop, laptop, workstation, and thin client product lines.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows imaging and modern deployment technologies: SCCM/MECM, Windows Autopilot (including white-glove provisioning), MDT, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of modern endpoint management platforms: Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager, Workspace One. JAMF, or similar.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security principles as they apply to the endpoint — BitLocker, TPM, Secure Boot, and Zero Trust frameworks.
  • Ability to author detailed, technically precise responses to complex ITT, RFP, and RFI documentation.
