Technical Project Lead, Modelling and Simulation (Marine) | Bristol (Hybrid) | Up to £72,500 | Perm or Contract
I’m working with a specialist engineering company in Bristol. They’re looking for a Technical Project Lead to join their marine business, leading a team that builds models and control systems for commercial and defence projects.
The role combines three things: hands-on MATLAB/Simulink engineering, running the team’s sprints, and being the main point of contact for the customer.
What you’ll do
- Work as part of the customer’s team, agreeing plans, timescales and requirements with their engineering manager
- Plan each sprint, assign tasks and manage technical risk
- Run the team’s Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews and retros)
- Review and merge the team’s MATLAB and Simulink work
- Mentor engineers and help them deliver on time
- Work with other project teams to keep everything aligned
What you’ll need
- Strong MATLAB/Simulink experience, using models to develop and analyse complex systems
- Experience developing control systems or software
- Experience leading a technical team and managing tasks and risks
- Confidence working directly with customers
- A grounding in systems engineering
- A degree in aerospace, mechanical or electrical engineering, maths or similar (or equivalent experience)
Nice to have
- Marine sector experience
- Agile/Scrum, Jira and Confluence
- Git (BitBucket, SourceTree or similar)
- Kalman filters and state estimation
- Real-time simulation, code generation or embedded C++
- A background in actuation, multi-body simulation, vehicle dynamics, flight controls, dynamic loads or motor control
- Familiarity with ARP4754, DO-178 or DO-331
Marine experience is a bonus, not a must. They’re just as interested in people from aerospace, automotive and other complex engineering sectors.
The package
- Up to £72,500 depending on experience, with contractors also considered
- Hybrid working from Bristol, with occasional travel to customer sites
- A mix of commercial and defence projects
- Regular social events
Please note: because of security restrictions on the projects, applicants must be UK nationals.
