No day will be the same - here are some of the highlights
As a Technical Project Manager at Good Energy, you will play a pivotal role in leading the technical delivery and on-site success of our commercial solar installations and broader renewable energy solutions. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will combine project management expertise with deep technical understanding to drive high-impact Net Zero projects.
You’ll manage key stakeholder relationships, including high-level corporate clients, trusts, and commercial partners, ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest technical and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Project Delivery: Lead the technical delivery of commercial renewable energy projects (including Solar PV up to 1MW, Battery Storage/BESS, and Commercial EV Charging) from sales handover through to commissioning and client handover.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and retain strong relationships with high-level clients, consultancies, trusts, and key commercial partners, such as bankers and financial institutions.
- Surveys & Feasibility: Conduct or review detailed site surveys, feasibility assessments, and technical designs to ensure buildability and compliance.
- Scoping & Estimation: Generate comprehensive project quotes, manage cost estimation, and oversee detailed project programmes.
- Site & Safety Oversight: Undertake regular site visits to monitor installation quality, audit electrical/structural safety, and resolve complex technical challenges on site.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor project P&L, issue and track invoices, and manage procurement to protect project gross margins (GM).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with survey, design, and site delivery teams, delegating technical tasks effectively to project administrators and site staff.
What you'll need to succeed
We are seeking an adaptable, commercially minded Technical Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and isn’t afraid to take full ownership of their work. While industry experience is valuable, what matters most is your drive, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to learn. If you bring strong organisational skills, high standards, and a passion for renewable energy, we will provide the support and environment you need to succeed.
Essentials:
- Proven background in technical or construction project management, with strong experience in site safety, contractor oversight, and structural/electrical workflows.
- Proven experience in managing and tracking project budgets and financials.
- Strong technical grounding in renewable energy or electrical infrastructure (e.g., Solar PV, Battery Storage, or EV Charge Point infrastructure).
- Demonstrated ability to perform or evaluate site surveys, structural/electrical feasibility assessments, and technical risk reviews.
- Proficiency in project quoting, budgeting, and financial controls.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Project, Outlook) and standard CRM software.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle for regular site visits.
Desirables:
- Electrically qualified background (e.g., 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3 Electrical, or former Commercial Electrician / Electrical Engineer).
- Hands-on experience conducting commercial solar site surveys and electrical load assessments.
- Track record of delivering commercial solar projects up to 1MW in capacity.
