TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER

Flexible hybrid • Lewisville, Texas / work from home within the United States

Full-time, salaried

Reports to: Project Management Lead

ABOUT THE ROLE

Scout Power is looking for a Technical Project Manager with strong practical knowledge of power and distribution transformers to manage projects from contract award through delivery and closeout.

You will connect customer requirements with engineering, manufacturing, testing, logistics, schedules, and budgets. Working with customers, internal teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners, you will keep people informed, identify risks early, and help resolve the issues that affect project delivery.

This role suits someone who understands transformers through technical, engineering, manufacturing, or other hands-on industry experience and can turn that knowledge into organized, practical project execution.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Manage transformer projects from contract award through completion, including scope, schedules, milestones, budgets, and deliverables.

• Review customer specifications, transformer data, drawings, technical submittals, and testing requirements to identify gaps, conflicts, and project risks.

• Coordinate technical questions, drawing reviews, approvals, changes, and issue resolution with Engineering, Quality, customers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.

• Serve as a primary customer contact and provide clear updates on progress, decisions, risks, and outstanding actions.

• Coordinate manufacturing milestones, quality requirements, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), customer witness activities, logistics, and delivery readiness.

• Track budgets, expenditures, purchase orders, change orders, forecasts, and project performance. Support contract administration, billing, and financial reporting as required.

• Identify technical, commercial, schedule, supplier, and delivery risks, coordinate responses, and escalate issues when needed.

• Maintain accurate project records, meeting notes, action logs, technical documentation, test records, and handover information.

• Work across time zones and languages to ensure requirements and decisions are understood and documented.

• Contribute to lessons learned and improvements in Scout’s project management practices, and undertake related duties supporting project delivery.

WHAT YOU BRING

• At least three years of relevant transformer industry experience in project delivery, customer coordination, manufacturing, engineering support, quality, testing, applications, or a closely related function.

• In-depth working knowledge of power and/or distribution transformers, including components, construction, specifications, drawings, manufacturing, testing, quality requirements, and common technical issues.

• Experience managing or coordinating complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, technical deliverables, schedules, budgets, suppliers, and manufacturing activities.

• Ability to discuss technical requirements with customers and technical teams, recognize when specialist input is needed, and track issues through resolution.

• Fluency in English.

• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese, Indonesian, Spanish or another language used by Scout’s international manufacturing or supplier partners would be a huge asset, particularly when coordinating technical requirements and project matters.

• Strong planning, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through skills, with sound commercial awareness and attention to detail.

• Ability to work collaboratively and manage competing priorities in a growing business.

HELPFUL QUALIFICATIONS

• An engineering background, particularly hands-on transformer engineering or design experience, is a strong asset.

• Post-secondary education in electrical technology, power systems, engineering technology, project management, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent depth of transformer industry experience will be considered.

• Experience working with international suppliers or manufacturing partners across different time zones and cultures.

• PMP or another recognized project management certification.

WORK ARRANGEMENT AND TRAVEL

This role offers a flexible hybrid arrangement, with the option to work from Scout’s Lewisville, Texas office or from home within the United States. You will collaborate with customers, colleagues, suppliers, and manufacturing partners. Domestic and international travel is required from time to time for project needs, including manufacturing reviews, testing, and customer activities.
