Hands-on Tech Lead | Up to €120k | Remote, Ireland / UK

I’m working with a fintech startup looking for someone to become the founder’s technical number two.

This is a proper startup. You’ll be writing code, making architecture decisions and getting features into production. You’ll also help hire and manage the engineering team around you, with plans to start building that team straight away.

The hands-on work will remain a big part of your job for the foreseeable future.

You’ll work directly with the founder, turning business priorities into software that works.

Challenging ideas. Explaining trade-offs. Deciding what needs building now and what can wait.

The product brings financial data together across advisers and institutions, securely and with customer consent. Think financial APIs, tenant isolation, authentication and reliable, auditable data flows.

Java / Spring Boot / Azure / PostgreSQL / Kubernetes

You’ll take ownership of:

• Backend development, architecture and production reliability

• Technical priorities and engineering standards

• Hiring, mentoring and managing a growing team

• Product and delivery decisions alongside the founder

You’ll need strong backend experience in financial services, experience leading engineers, and the appetite to roll your sleeves up when something needs doing.

This could suit a Tech Lead ready to build a team, or an Engineering Manager who still loves coding and wants to stay close to the product.

There’s ambiguity, changing priorities and plenty to figure out. There’s also the opportunity to shape both the software and the team building it.
