TECHNICIAN

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Technician is to install, maintain and service Trakm8 telematics equipment across customer vehicles, machinery and fixed-site locations, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and in line with agreed customer requirements. This role plays a key part in delivering reliable, high-quality solutions for customers by supporting both the initial installation and the ongoing performance of Trakm8 products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install telematics equipment in vehicles, machinery and fixed customer locations safely, accurately and in line with company procedures.
• Test and commission installations to confirm correct operation.
• Complete warranty and post-warranty servicing, including basic fault finding where required.
• Liaise with customers to arrange installations, confirm access requirements and provide completion updates.
• Complete installation reports, work summaries and related administration accurately and on time.
• Escalate technical, equipment, vehicle or site-related issues to the line manager as appropriate.
• Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach while working at customer premises and travelling to customer locations.

Skills / Experience / Competency Required:

• Experience installing electrical, electronic, automotive or telematics equipment, or similar practical technical experience.
• Strong practical and manual skills, with the ability to work carefully and safely with vehicle electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to carry out basic fault finding and resolve installation or equipment issues where appropriate.
• Good standard of secondary education.
• Working knowledge of English, with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
• Able to work independently in a field-based role, with strong attention to detail and accurate completion of work records and administration.

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience with vehicle telematics, GPS tracking systems or similar technology.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrics, automotive diagnostics or related technical systems.
• Experience in a field-service or mobile technician role, working directly with customers on site.
