The EPO's Academy, Professional Certifications and Learning Partnerships department plays a key role in advancing patent knowledge, professional skills and innovation across Europe. Through the European Patent Academy, it delivers specialised learning programmes and builds strategic partnerships with national patent offices, universities, research organisations and innovation support networks, contributing to the objectives of the EPO's Strategic Plan 2028.
We are looking for a motivated and proactive Technology Transfer and PATLIB Administrator to support the implementation of the "EPO PATLIB Next Level" initiative, which aims to strengthen the PATLIB network's role in fostering innovation and European competitiveness. Working closely with national patent offices and PATLIB centres, you will contribute by helping to expand services, develop capabilities and enhance collaboration across the European innovation ecosystem.
In this role, you will assist in bridging the gap between intellectual property and its commercial application by supporting initiatives that connect patenting, technology transfer, IP valuation, financing and market uptake. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to strengthen innovation support services, promote knowledge sharing and help transform patent-related expertise into tangible opportunities for European innovators.
With us you will:
- develop and maintain partnerships with universities, research organisations, national patent offices and international institutions
- co-ordinate collaborative projects and learning initiatives that support the Academy's strategic objectives
- contribute to the development and delivery of joint training programmes and knowledge-sharing activities
- collaborate with colleagues across EPO departments on training and co‑operation initiatives
- represent the Academy in meetings and exchanges with member states of the European Patent Organisation and external partners
- support the implementation of the PATLIB network's development strategy, in co-operation with national patent offices and strategic partners active in technology transfer, commercialisation and innovation support
- contribute to technology transfer initiatives that connect patenting, IP valuation, financing and market uptake
- help ensure the timely delivery of quality outcomes, while sharing knowledge and providing advice within your areas of responsibility
- prepare reports, statistics and supporting documentation to facilitate the taking of informed decisions and the granting of internal approvals
Apply if you have:
- professional certification in technology transfer, such as Registered Technology Transfer Professional accreditation and/or equivalent relevant experience
- experience in working in a technology transfer office, knowledge transfer office, research organisation, university innovation office, patent office or innovation support organisation
- experience in supporting the commercialisation of research outcomes through licensing, spin-outs, collaborative R&D projects or industry partnerships
- experience in conducting or supporting intellectual property valuation, technology assessment or innovation financing activities
- experience in designing or delivering training, capacity-building programmes or knowledge-sharing initiatives related to innovation and intellectual property
- experience with Horizon Europe, EIC, EIT, national innovation programmes or publicly funded research initiatives and SME funds
- familiarity with licensing negotiations, IP portfolio management or patent valuation methodologies
- the ability to communicate clearly with diverse audiences and experience in co‑ordinating collaborative projects or initiatives
- the ability to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, using diplomacy and promoting mutual understanding
- a collaborative approach, with an interest in sharing knowledge and working effectively across teams, departments and sites
Our minimum requirements for this post
- Diploma of completed studies at master's level or – in exceptional cases – equivalent professional experience
- Generally, an excellent knowledge (at least C1) of one official language (English, French and German) and ability to understand the other two; alternatively, excellent knowledge (at least C1) of at least one official language (in such cases, the willingness to learn the missing language(s) and to reach level B2 within a set time frame would be required)
- Citizenship of one of the member states of the European Patent Organisation
