About the Role
As one of Ireland’s most progressive and people-focused building consultancies, we are strengthening our expert team with a Temporary Works Engineer.
This role is primarily design-focused and would suit a Civil or Structural Engineering graduate with some post-university experience who is interested in developing specialist expertise in Temporary Works design.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the design and assessment of temporary works solutions across a range of construction projects.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design documentation, drawings and technical reports.
- Design temporary works including propping, shoring, formwork, falsework, temporary supports, working platforms and other construction-stage solutions.
- Review site information, permanent works designs and construction methodologies to develop appropriate temporary works solutions.
- Work closely with senior engineers, contractors and project teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable.
- Assist with design checks and technical reviews.
- Attend site inspections and surveys where required.
- Respond to technical queries during construction.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes and health and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate project and design records.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum Level 7 qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles.
- An interest in developing a career specialising in Temporary Works.
- Experience producing engineering calculations and technical documentation.
- Exposure to structural design software would be advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Desirable Requirements
- Relevant post-graduate engineering experience.
- Exposure to temporary works such as propping, formwork, falsework, excavations, working platforms or temporary stability.
- Experience working with contractors or consulting engineers.
- Knowledge of relevant Eurocodes and temporary works design standards.
- AutoCAD experience would be beneficial.
