Become a Part of the NPT Team
National Philanthropic Trust was founded in 1996. Since that time, have raised more than $95.8 billion in charitable contributions and currently manage $68.7 billion in charitable assets. We have made more than 1.1 million grants totaling more than $55.5 billion to charities all over the world. We rank among the largest grantmaking institutions in the United States.
Our mission is to increase philanthropy in society. To that end, our experienced staff of philanthropic professionals are fully prepared to help you establish and administer your donor-advised fund. NPT is led by a Board of Trustees composed of nationally known experts in philanthropy and business.

At National Philanthropic Trust, we foster a welcoming environment for all. People are valued and respected for who they are—with opportunities to bring their entrepreneurial spirit and talents to increase giving around the world. We have an inclusive, supportive, collaborative culture that makes National Philanthropic Trust one of the most rewarding places to work.
What You'll Do
National Philanthropic Trust (NPT) is seeking a hands-on testing and quality leader to own NPT’s test strategy and its adoption, initially for the GivingPoint Web Portal supporting our account administration, donor, and financial service partner solutions. This role drives automated regression coverage and end-to-end release certification, helps define test data standards and quality gates, and coordinates testing performed by NPT engineers and implementation partners. It builds the framework alongside the NPT’s Portal transition, drives adoption of the standards and release gates that partner testers work within, and helps define and refine test architecture and tooling with NPT’s architects. Release gates and test evidence also serve as SOC 2 change management controls.
Through the portal cutover, targeted for completion in 2027, the role is fully allocated to the Portal team, focused on building, driving adoption of, and overseeing testing. A transition period follows, as the role expands to meet a broader delivery quality need across IT teams as part of NPT’s Product Delivery Center of Excellence, where the reporting line may move at that point. The standards established for the Portal will become the model for other IT teams.
The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative Agile environments and combines strong software development experience with deep testing expertise, including a clear understanding of how best to test a web portal. As an AI-first team, NPT expects this role to leverage AI across the SDLC, both to improve testing and to test AI-enabled capabilities.
Test Strategy & Quality Engineering
  • Own the test strategy for the Web Portal and its adoption, including the test environment inventory, bringing plans and recommendations to committee and extending the resulting standards to other IT teams over time.
  • Help define and refine test architecture and automation standards (UI, API, accessibility, regression, integration, end-to-end) with NPT’s architects, using tools such as Playwright and Xray.
  • Drive NPT’s capability to own testing across the full lifecycle, from unit and integration testing through functional/system testing, UAT, and post-certification testing, with clear standards, ownership, and evidence expectations proposed for each stage.
  • Drive automated regression coverage and its expansion, using manual testing selectively for exploratory, UAT, and edge-case needs.
  • Treat production defects and incident outcomes as a feedback loop, turning root cause findings and recurring defect patterns into new test coverage, automated checks, and updated release gates.
  • Help define standards for test data generation and management, and provide input on the data needs of lower environments for testing, in partnership with Cloud Operations.
  • Drive adoption of requirements-to-test traceability and recommend the quality criteria within the team Definition of Done.
  • Partner with the Product Delivery Center of Excellence on delivery health metrics such as DORA, contributing testing and quality inputs (for example, automated coverage, defect escape rate, and flaky test rate) and using them to identify risk, prioritize automation investment, and recommend release gate improvements. This grows as the role broadens beyond the initial Portal focus.
  • Operate AI-first: use AI-assisted tools for test generation, coverage analysis, and documentation, and recommend approaches for testing AI-enabled functionality.
Release Certification, Quality Gates & Compliance Evidence
  • Lead end-to-end release certification and provide go-live readiness recommendations for each environment.
  • Help define the test evidence and release gate criteria that NPT’s delivery platform enforces, in partnership with platform and delivery coaching colleagues.
  • Partner with Infrastructure to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, initially authoring quality gates and increasingly helping define the gating standard, with changes approved through the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
  • Retain test evidence in the delivery pipeline and ensure gates and evidence satisfy SOC 2 change management controls, in partnership with Security and Compliance.
Testing Leadership & Partner Coordination
  • Coordinate testing by NPT engineers and implementation partners, ensuring it follows NPT’s standards, gates, and evidence requirements and that suites and knowledge transfer are sustainable long term.
  • Support incident response and post-incident reviews alongside Cloud Operations and engineering teams, reproducing and documenting defects, recommending severity, and ensuring follow-up actions include testing and prevention measures.
  • Drive quality planning with Product, Architecture, Security, Cloud Operations, development teams, and external partners, and represent quality in Agile ceremonies, release readiness, and vendor reviews.
  • Coach teams across IT on testing and DevOps practice, complementing the COE Agility Leads, and drive adoption of tooling selected in consultation with Architecture, using the Portal framework as the reference model. This grows as the role broadens beyond the initial Portal focus.
  • Guide engineers on testability, automation design, defect analysis, accessibility validation, and AI-assisted testing workflows, and contribute to development, bug fixes, and test utilities as needed.
What You Bring
  • 7+ years of combined software development and quality engineering experience, including hands-on experience building web applications, APIs, automated tests, and testing frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience establishing or performing testing across the full lifecycle, from unit testing through post-release verification.
  • Demonstrated experience testing customer-facing web portals, including authenticated user journeys, role-based access, cross-browser behavior, back-office integrations, and financial transaction workflows, and knowledge of leveraging AI in the SDLC (AI-assisted testing and testing AI-enabled functionality).
  • Demonstrated ability to establish or mature automation-first practices, including strategy, standards, regression planning, test data, release readiness, and quality metrics, and to coordinate test development across teams and partners.
  • Proficiency with modern test automation and test management tools, such as Playwright and Xray.
  • Working knowledge of modern web technologies, including JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, APIs, C#/.NET, and a frontend framework such as Angular.
  • Experience integrating automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tooling.
  • Experience validating web accessibility, including WCAG 2.2 Level AA or similar standards.
  • Working knowledge of DORA and software quality metrics, and experience using them to identify risks and inform improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in Agile/Scrum environments, including explaining quality risks, release readiness, and technical findings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience producing test evidence and release controls that support SOC 2 or similar change management frameworks.
  • Experience coaching or enabling multiple engineering teams on testing and quality practices without direct authority.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps practice, such as pipeline design, release strategies, environment management, and feature flagging.
  • Hands-on experience with DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, and failed deployment recovery time), including building reporting from delivery tooling data (for example, Jira, test management, or CI/CD pipelines) and using the results to drive improvement across multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with security testing concepts and authentication flows, such as OWASP Top 10, SSO, and MFA.
  • Experience with performance testing (e.g., JMeter) and browser compatibility testing.
  • Azure certifications, such as Azure Developer Associate or Azure Fundamentals.
  • Prior experience in financial services, nonprofit technology, donor-facing portals, or other customer-facing web applications.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Hybrid Work Schedule:
This position follows a hybrid work schedule and requires onsite presence in our Conshohocken, PA office every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
