Test Engineer - Integrated Planning & Forecasting

Location: Schiphol / Hybrid
Hours: 36 hours per week
Start: ASAP
Contract until: 1 November 2027
Freelance / ZZP: Allowed
Language: Dutch & English

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Test Engineer to join a business-critical Integrated Planning & Forecasting environment within a major aviation organisation.

The team develops and supports several applications used to plan and manage airport operations, including passenger flows, aircraft stands, buses, baggage and operational asset planning.

You will take ownership of the testing process across three key applications and work closely with Business Analysts, Information Analysts, architects, DevOps engineers, suppliers, application management and the Product Owner.

The environment is currently heavily focused on functional and integration testing, while one of the major objectives going forward is to significantly increase automated regression testing using Playwright.

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for the quality of new functionality, releases and technical changes across the platform.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prioritising test conditions and defining test coverage.

  • Writing and maintaining test cases across multiple operational applications.

  • Preparing and maintaining test data.

  • Performing functional, integration and non-functional testing.

  • Setting up regression and end-to-end testing across different systems and teams.

  • Executing testing for application releases, OS patching and lifecycle-management changes.

  • Investigating issues using logs, metrics and traces.

  • Producing test reports and documenting findings clearly.

  • Supporting application incidents and support processes.

  • Improving existing QA and testing processes.

  • Building and expanding automated regression testing.

  • Developing automated tests using Playwright or comparable frameworks.

  • Integrating automated tests into Azure DevOps and/or GitHub pipelines.

  • Working closely with external development partners and internal technical teams.

  • Sharing testing knowledge and helping improve overall quality standards within the team.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a senior, hands-on Test Engineer who is comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for detailed instructions.

You bring:

  • Approximately 5+ years of professional testing experience.

  • Strong experience working within Agile / Scrum environments.

  • At least 3 years of practical test automation experience.

  • Experience setting up or developing a test automation framework.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright or a comparable automation tool.

  • Strong functional and integration testing experience.

  • Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman.

  • Experience with JavaScript or comparable automation technologies.

  • Experience analysing logs, metrics and application behaviour using tools such as Splunk or similar.

  • Good understanding of APIs, web applications, cloud environments and modern software architecture.

  • Experience running automated tests through CI/CD pipelines, preferably Azure DevOps or GitHub.

  • ISTQB Foundation certification or comparable testing knowledge.

  • HBO-level education and thinking.

  • Strong analytical and technical skills.

  • A structured and pragmatic way of working.

  • The ability to work independently and take responsibility for test quality.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across business and technical teams.

  • Professional proficiency in Dutch and English.

Ideal Profile

The strongest candidate will combine traditional hands-on testing experience with modern test automation capabilities.

You should be comfortable moving between functional testing, integration testing, troubleshooting and automation rather than focusing exclusively on one area.

Experience within complex, high-availability or operationally critical environments would be particularly valuable.

Environment & Technologies

You can expect to work with technologies and concepts including:

Playwright | Test Automation | Functional Testing | Integration Testing | Regression Testing | API Testing | Postman | JavaScript | Azure DevOps | GitHub | CI/CD | Splunk | Cloud | Web Applications | Agile / Scrum

Practical Information

The assignment is for 36 hours per week and operates in a hybrid working model, combining remote work with regular collaboration at the office.
